Since Amex changed the SUB for the SPG cards what options do we have. I really see no need to keep this card. Any input appreciated.
Not sure what a changed SUB has to do with keeping an existing card but your choices are to either close the card or PC it to the new SPG Luxury card when it comes out.
Forgot to add that of course your 3rd option is to keep your existing card. Whether to close it or keep it is entirely up to you. Do you stay at SPG/Marriott hotels or resorts? Do you have another Marriott point earning card like the Chase Marriott or Ritz Carlton card’s? Ultimately only you can decide whether the card will be worth the AF after 8/1

I don’t stay at SPG hotels and only stay at Marriott maybe 1-2 times a year if that.
Then the fee probably isn't worth it and you should probably close it out when the AF becomes due. Though if use fly a lot the SPG/Marriott points you earn from spend (if you use the card a LOT) can be transferred to many airlines. Something that you would have to review based on your airline travel
Retention seekers on SPG seem to have a pretty high success rate at getting decent offers...even if they haven't spent a lot on the card.

SPG transfers to many airlines, but the transfer time is like 24-72 hours. It's not a matter of minutes or hours like MR and UR can be with some airlines. So it's a little tricky to use Starpoints opportunistically.

I think the new SPG has been analyzed and over-analyzed. And @Irish80 has answered again. I think it is a clear decision to make. Good luck to whatever you decide.
See if you can get a retention bonus that's what I'll try with mine. I dumped my PRG after not getting one.
Again, I'm not sure what the change to the SUB has to do with your existing card options? If you don't have an existing card, you can always get the 100,000 SUB from the Chase Marriott Premeir Plus on May 3rd; thats equivalent to 33,333 Starpoints.
What were you hoping to get out of the card prior to program modifications?
