Amex cli decline.....I'm freaking out a bit

Ok so, I requested the 6 month cli on my Amex Blue Sky this morning. I don't really "need" it, I just wanted it. Well, I got the 7-10 day message. I pif each month before a statement even thinks about being cut. But like others here, I'm scared I've set off some financial review and now my stomach has been in knots all day. I feel like the decline could be because I just opened a new Chase card last month or the fact that I have more credit than income. Other than those two things, my utilization is low and I have no baddies, lates, etc. I want to hear from others here that have been declined.....will they just send a typical decline letter or have I opened a can of worms?

Is your income above $50K a year?  If not, it's possible you've hit your AMEX ceiling.

Are you sure you cleared the 6 month mark?

Have you checked your reports recently? Maybe see if they have any new soft pulls on you?

Ive tried for a cli on with AMex on my 61 days, 90 days and 6 months and all declined due to something in my credit. 

When I first opened my accnt w/ them it showed I had a collection. I took care of the collection and had it removed but just having that record in the past is keeping me from getting any love from them.

I think so. My last Cli was 9/5/13. So 6 months would be today?

Take a deep breath, i don't think you should be freaked out by it....give it a few hours or even few days and they may counter it and meet you half way.  I really think you should be just fine!

@bsong The last time they sp'd me was less than 2 weeks ago when my new Southwest card hit my credit. I wonder of they don't like the new account? But also I have total available credit of almost 100k but my income is alittle less than 65k. I'm thinking that might be it but I don't know. So was your letter just a decline letter without asking for financial info?

+1.  People worry a lot on here over potential FR by AMEX, and I don't think you have cause to worry, OP.

@yudeology101 When I called this morning and asked what the 7-10 days meant, the csr said it was declined and to wait for the letter. I'm ok with that....I just don't want any trouble or drama.....lol That card is my favorite card to use and I have alot of built up points on it. I meant to originally mention that I didn't ask for the 3x cli, I only asked for a 5k bump.
