Last sentence I assume is 2017? Or is there some long-simmering adjustment you’re waiting on? Keep in mind that if you DO get asked for IV anytime in the next 7-8 months, the 4506-T will give them access to 2015 and 2016 as 2017 won’t be available for transcripts until later in 2018.
Probably should have mentioned earlier that in DW’s recent experience even if you think Amex may have cut you off or may require IV soon it’s not always the case. She asked for a 3X CLI on her ED card from $12k to $36k and was counter-offered $32k. Then literally weeks later was approved for a Gold SkyMiles card for $23,700. One of those bizarre Chase-like moves. “No, you cannot have a CLI on the $4k Freedom card you’ve run many thousands through this year, but how about a $27k CSP/CSR?”
Was that $23,700 the starting limit they gave her? If so, that's an oddly specific number! I was actually kinda curious what the maximum starting limit was that Amex gave out. Until I saw your reply, the highest I think I'd seen was $20K.
Yes to both. $23,700 was the starting limit and it is indeed oddly specific. It's like they wanted to outdo her last highest SL back in April (NFCU $23,300), but just barely. Then of course Chase came along and gave her $27,000 for CSP right after (but of course the Gold SkyMiles card wasn't reporting yet). I'm afraid to have her app for anything again!

I think without any prior or current relationship with AMEX they like to start people on the "low" side for even people with excellent credit/income.

While I agree that's how they are with most people, I have seen some first timer BCEs approved for $20K over on the approvals forum before.

There must have been something they liked about their profiles then as is the YMMV nature of AMEX. For me I couldn't crack the $20k+ initial limit til my recent apps for the personal/biz SPG cards.

I have no idea what Id do if the Amex Centurion Card hit my preapproval page.
