Is there a minimum purchase required when redeeming a BankAmerideal offer from Bank of America? They recently started a new star system, you get one each time you redeem an offer and if you get 4 stars you get an extra $5 (and the values go up after that). I had an offer for a pet store, bought a can of cat food for 58c w/tax but did not get the usual email saying that I had redeemed an offer. So I'm wondering if there is some unwritten rule which says that the purchase has to be a minimum amount to qualify for the deal. Under normal circumstances, of course, using it for such a small amount would not be a good use of the offer, but I wasn't planning to use it otherwise.
Of course, it's also possible that it will show as credited once the charge is posted. But I'd like to know if there is a minumum before trying the same thing at other stores.
Each BankAmerideal will have its own terms, so the minimum to unlock each one will vary from 10% off at Starbucks (your 50 cents back on your coffee counts) to $100 back for signing up for ADT (just switching your existing alarm service to the card wouldn't count). I did have a nice targeted offer last month on my Cash Rewards card - make 3 or more purchases of at least $5 each using Apple Pay and get a $15 statement credit. I popped up my Dunkin Donuts app and reloaded my card for $5 three times in less than a minute. Easiest $15 in free coffee ever.
Thanks. I know that each order has a different maximum, and some are a flat amount (the DirectTV Now $35 back was a particularly nice one, combined with their free FireTV when you paid for one month). The question is whether there is a minimum purchase to have the offer triggered. With the new star system, it can be worthwhile to make a small purchase to redeem an ofer that you might not otherwise use, like the pet food deal I tried to redeem.
Well, I've now tried two of them below $1 and neither one triggered the email, which had been showing up instantly after making the purchase recently (and they're not showing up as processing). So it's not looking good for sub-$1 purchases. I may call them if they don't show up by next week.
Amex is really good about emailing when you use their deals. It has been a while since I used a BoA deal, but I don't remember getting an email. I also seem to remember it taking a while before it started processing. I would give them a couple more days before worrying.
Bank of America has actually gotten really good about immediate notification of late, but I'll still give them another few days. I'm actually going to use another offer on Tuesday for $20+ so that one should show up immediately.
Good news! I just got email saying that I had earned both of the missing offers (a big 9 cents between them!). I don't see the stars for them, but they're both showing Pending and TBH I don't recall when the star was earned for the first one that I did. I'll see how the offer I am planning to redeem on Tuesday works.
I've owned bofa cc's for the better part of 4 decades. There used to be dozens of amerideals to choose from. Lately, I've had just one... 10% of staples with a max of $5. Did I piss off the amerideal gods because I didn't use them often enough?
