I have had my card for a little over a year. It opened with 12.5 CL and there it stays. I have used it consistently for larger purchases although never going over a 30% utilization. My FICO 8 score at the time of approval was 758, just for a data point.

I was asked by the OP to share my story with my Barclays Ring Card. My Ring was my first Barclays card. However I am well established with the credit world. I was solicited for the card in 2012 and was approved with $3,300 limit. This SL was very small to compared other bank cards I held.
The Ring card came with an online commuity. Topics would be similar to MyFico but centered around Baclays and the Ring Card. The overarching theme was how low the limits were with Barclays compared to other cards. The community is made up of cardholders and some Barclays staff. Barclays staff would advocate that the increases would come usually within 6 months and accounts continued to be reviewed. Nevertheless since it was new I used it quite a bit, mostly paying it off, but making some larger purchases and carrying the balance in some instances, because of the great APR.
It was 18 months after opening that they raised the limit to $4,500. Still not very much compared to my other cards. From then I only used very rarely to keep it current and pay off the balance.
In 2016, after reading posts in My Fico about how Barclays tends to behave with CLIs I went ahead and did a BT for $700 and charged a hotel stay with it.
Two months later they increased the limit to $8,500.
Again, still very low compared to other cards. I still carry that hotel stay and BT on it, but will soon pay it off. In my humble opinion they are stingy and stodgy (too conservative), and not with the times. I think they tried to be a bit progressive with the Online Community 'thing' but still they are not with the 'current' like other banks. You can't beat the APR, but I need more wiggle room to be able to use it without impacting the card's utilization so heavily.
Thanks, CreditFun4Dave, this is very helpful! You've had two automatic credit limit increases on the Ring card after the 18 month mark , from what I can see.
Your information about usage patterns is helpful as well. Much appreciated! ![]()

Thanks, ML, this is very helpful also!
My Ring card is at $12,500 CL as well and is 5 months old. It would be nice to get a 6 month CLI, but I'm not expecting it! ![]()
Thank you to everyone in this thread for the fantastic and helpful information! Please keep it coming! ![]()
@Anonymous wrote:The Ring is a card we all know that you cannot call in and try the APR and SP CLI trick with. (the representative may laugh if you do so). I am wondering if anyone who has this card has received any auto CLI, or has received SP CLI.
In searching the forums I find only one report of Ring auto CLI or SP CLI, and that was from someone who spent $7,000 on it.
Most of us are not looking to spend $7,000 on it to get a CLI, but would like to know about potential future auto CLI or SP CLI opportunities.
Please chime in, Ring cardholders.
My RIng is very new and my SL is $12,500, so I'll be ok without a CLI for some time, but I would like to know if there are potential future opportunities for either auto or SP CLI. I have a feeling that a number of other Ring cardholders would like to know as well. Thanks, everyone.

Hey OP,
What is the SP CLI trick? And is there an APR trick too?

I have a "request a credit limit increase" option in my account settings. Don't remember if it was there or not before, but I'm guessing that would be a soft pull increase.

Yes. Just get it over with. What is the point of having this community driven niche feature packed card that is either less usefull, or becomes useless as a persons profile evolves? We were definitely anticipating the usual harassing phone calls full of questions, going as far as saying a voice didnt match a previous call, or answering security questions and getting them wrong, etc. Hey they own the card they can act however they want. But there are SOOOOOOOOOO many CU cards out there that may seem to be out of reach, but a little footwork will yield great results.
Hence my convo with my SO who has a ring, and I said, what on gods green earth is the point of having this 8.25% card when all your other limits are in the 30's, and if barclays wants to CLD then they can do that and lose a customer. The score impacts of course were temporary due to utilization but still it was not ideal. Card over a ye ar old, started at 10k limit, requested 20k online, and a few hours later it was granted. I am sure we could have played games and asked for more but it wasn't worth the BS. Not trying to brag or gloat but was honestly expecting a call with a counter of 15k.
My SO adores this card. I don't know why. The argument is the convenience checks that are always coming (yet seem like a big annoyance and risk of theft to me but whatever) as well as the ability to do a cheap CA and no FTFs..... my argument still wins because its not that hard to just move money over from either one of our CU cards to checking account for no fee (and less interest), but whatever to each theiir own. Just happy to see barclays not have a myocardial infarction for once over a simple and legit request.
