Anyone have luck with reconing Cap 1 after denial?

I've heard a lot of bad things about Cap1 on these forums and was just curious if anyone had any luck with recon with them or if its even worth it.

I have no idea if you will have any luck, but I see it this way, you've already wasted (most likely 3 inq's) Cap1 normally pulls ALL 3 CRA's, I would do a recon if I had to fly to Asia to find a phone that worked!!! (OK maybe an exaggeration, but you get my point).

It certainly can not hurt to try a recon, IMO Always do a recon if declined.

Just my 0.01 cents.

I Wish you the Best of Luck!

If you don't mind me asking, do you know your TU and EQ Ficos?

Thanks for the reply. They did do a pull from all 3.. So I suppose it would always be worth it, I'll try it here soon and reply with the results..

I don't know the FICOs, but my FAKO TU is 709 and EQ is 739.

I have a pretty limited credit history, oldest is 9 months, which is a secured credit card with Cap 1 of $200. Since then I have obtained a secured personal loan, had a pre approval from us bank ( they're my primary bank ) I got approved for $600, which started an app spree. I have also been approved for BOA for $600 and CITI for $4,000, and Chase was denied but I called and its under the 30 day review, I've called 3 times since then and they all have told me I have to wait the 30 days.

Re: Anyone have luck with reconing Cap 1 after denial?

I called the number for application status on the backdoor numbers page and was transferred to an account specialist or something along those lines, she didn't seem to have much clue other than to say wait for your letter and then call back, although I had informed her I already had my letter. Her only response was to contact the credit bureaus to dispute it. I asked to be reviewed again as I already know my reports are accurate and she just said the same thing again.

Is there a better number to call? Or do I need to submit a written recon as the letter states?

From my understanding, Cap1 is known for being clueless when asked for recon. I would be surprised if they do something for you... good luck!
