Yea I imagine most people got it after. I was apprehensive that some random company said they are collecting on Amex's behalf. So when they said that Amex has authorized to send app for Optima after payment, I said to myself why would Amex not call or send the letter themselves. I have kept the letter and see how this goes. But the hope is that I get the app soon so I can apply before the end of month. Also curious to see how it shows up on CR
The card shows up as a new TL. My card, however, was backdated to the date of the card it was replacing.

You can consider the letter you received as confirmation that you will receive an Optima Card application after they receive full payment. You are pretty muched guaranteed the card as long as you dont have a current Amex Card (Au dont count,) you have not accepted another offer, you you filed a BK, and you have income.
I believe when the payment is received and has cleared the collection agency will contact Amex and they will send you the application. You mail it in their prepaid envelope to Amex in Salt Lake City. You can also check the status of the application on their website. They will HP usually an Experian.
You might try and call this Global Collection number at 877-354-8148, but I believe the Collection Agency you spoke with is legit.
Keep us posted!

Absolutely. I checked this morning and a payment was charged to my account.
I have never had bankruptcy and do definitely have income. I always thought that you couldn't be added as AU if you have defaulted with Amex alrhough I know that AU is not responsible for the charges.
I tried calling global collection and they said they don't have me in their system so now I have to wait till I get that mail from Amex. Sucks that the limit will be only 500 but what the heck its a start. May be when all the old collections fall off by the end of next year I can get BCP. Thank you sjt I will definitely come back in less than a month and update about this. Without this forum I would have never known that Optima was a possibility
I just recently completed a year in the Optima Oasis program. They started me with a $900 cl. I PIF on time every month for the past year and at month 13, I requestd a cli and was raised to $2700. If you receive and manage the card and your credit responsibly, you should recieve a cli to $1500 after your 1st year, upon request. And depending on the rest of your credit profile, you may be even eligible to obtain a 2nd AMEX card, as I did.

Repairman did you try to apply for any orher Amex card during 13 months? Are you going to try and see if you get a different card.
Are there any benefits on Optima or its plain jane card? I am going to probably just put netflix on this and pay it off. I don't like to see any more than 10% usage on this card till I have decent limit.
You can not apply for any other AMEX product during the 1st 12 months of having the card, nor can you request a cli. You will be denied. It's basically a year long probation period when you have this card. However, at the 13th month, I not only got a 3x's cli, but I applied for and was approved for an AMEX SPG card.
There are no benefits on the Optima card, except for AMEX Offers that can be applied. I guess, the "benefit" of the Optima card is that you have an AMEX card. And have an opportunity to prove yourself to AMEX again, for bigger and better things. I only put relatively "heavy" usage on the card, in the very beginning when I was hurting for credit (and even still, only put on it what I knew I could PIF). After that, I just put all my recurring monthly bills on it like Netflix and the gym...which ran about $70/mo. Now that I have my new AMEX, I transferred all my recurring bills to that card, with the exception of Netflix, which I left on Optima just to keep activity on it, until I (probably) close it next year.

Although you cant apply for another Amex product for the first 12 months its an improvement from when they would make you close the Optima Account before you can apply for the card. Im still hoping to see even more improvements like the ability to enroll in Membership rewards and to do a product change after 12 months, so you can keep the history going.
What I like about Amex and their Oasis program is that paying off the debt and maintaining a positive Optima account goes along way. If you maintain positive payment history with all your accounts and keep your utilization low for the next year you should be able to get a CLI and another card product with ease.

The payment on my card went through and I got a confirmation from Amex that payment is made. Now the question is how long before I receive an application and how before Amex reports to CRA about the payment. I would like to see that change and application soon (just excited for Amex and that change in status will give me a boost; thats what FICO simulator was showing). I will definitely keep everything in positive going forward, don't want to end up in this situation ever again (hate to check my reports and see red on it).
