Did Amex give you a credit score with the rejection (possibly in a letter)? If they rejected for other reasons they don't have to, but it would be good to know your EX score, as that is often what they pull.
Letter will come in 7-10 days they said. Im going to call tmrw for an explanation.

What an awful feeling, but I should have known better after 2 recent hard pulls. Two weeks ago I was approved for the AMEX Green, and then for the Discover IT ($6,500 CL) a few days later. I've also had a BOA secured since Dec. 2012. But I couldn't help but pull the trigger on the AMEX BCE. I got an instant non approval. I'm hoping they used a soft pull since I'm an existing cardmember. I guess I'll wait 6 months and show good payment history on the Green b4 app'n again. Any thoughts?
Just like in a casino, the longer you stay, the more bored lady luck gets.
Here's the latest update..
Talked with AMEX this morning and they went over the list of reasons why I wasnt approved. They said my Experian FICO was too low. (690) They said my Green Card was opened too recently and I dont have any payment history built on it. They said I have a derog remark on my report and my accounts arent old enough. Also I have a LOT of student loans (The Dept. of Ed) with a high balance.
I won't be applying for that card for a while it looks like.
Oh yea... It wasnt a soft pull either. It was a hard pull both for the Green approval and BCE denial.
You have got good limit on Discover card. Let your card age and you would get high limits from prime lenders.
