I always wondered (and I decided to ask now
) does anyone have an Apple Card without the benefit of using Apple Pay via the iPhone? I don't mean anyone who has an iPad and has an Apple Card. More like your an Android Fan and decided to get the Apple Card.
I am sure there are those out there like this - but IMO it's a tough hit to get that card (granted nice to look at) and not get all the perks of Apple Pay.
I wonder if Apple will ever change their ways and give all the perks to those who just use the card versus those who use it via their iPhone on Apple pay. I would think it would benefit Apple more to do this, but since they aren't, I guess I am wrong on that.
Just talking outloud ![]()

Apple Card is designed to promote the use of Apple Pay....
Really Apple / GS doesn't want your business if you dont have some form of expenditure/vested interest into Apples device ecosystem...
Theve made some exceptions to this due to the current situation (Walgreens is a prime example of using the physical card and getting the bonus) .....
The card is to get folks to still swipe outside applepay but they dont want it to be used .. they want vendors to convert to apple pay and get the transaction fees...

What would be the point? There's not much benefit outside of using with Apple Pay.
I do think I read that now that they have a web portal, you can technically apply without an iPhone but again I don't see why you would.
I don't really see this happening. The deal is that Apple is so successful from keeping users stuck in their ecosystem. If all of your content and services (apps, iMessage/FaceTime, etc.) is within their ecosystem it gets very tricky to leave. Now you lose your credit card also, which is another way to keep users on the iPhone.. The Apple card is just 1% CB (and 3% at Apple Store) without Apple Pay so there is really no point to get it without.
Also just to note see you have verizon card if going for just aesthetics of card as apple card certainly doesnt give big CL's the verizon is a better looking card and also heavier as have both myself.. i would personally avoid one of the 5 or so CC's I have being the apple card i am like WTH did i get this.. Pointless card unless 12 month 0% financing then possibly a point, but have other cards that can easily do that as well.
The marketing of Apple Card is centered on the Wallet app management of the card, including among other things statement access, setting your next payment, and the selector wheel to tell you how much interest you will pay if you don't PIF this month.
They sell iPhones in stores. Just sayin'
As ymoneyman said, Apple is so vested in keeping people locked into their products I can't imagine this happening.
From the company that first brought us silly shaped chargers and headphone jacks or the lack there of, to the way their OS is designed, I can't imagine them branching out their digital wallet/payment technology or bonus categories. Apple is obsessive about making only their hardware and software compatable with only their hardware and software.

Yes, but have you tried adding your Apple card to Samsung Pay?
I highly doubt you can get the rotten Apple out of the Apple Card. Separating the phones from the account kills the majority of the benefits to the card. You are basically left with 1% on everything, 3% if you want to join the rotten Apple club, and whatever Walgreen's in kicking in. The 2% on ApplePay transactions is lost which is the majority of the value of this card. There are so many better cards for those that are not anchored by the Apple system even with full benefits so if you start slicing some off it just becomes more of a slaughterfest.
