Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Dunno if this topic is for CC or app sub category.
DPs on my sig and income is about 55k.
My goal as mentioned previously is travel/gas card(have enough of CB for now what with Citi DC/CFF/CO SO/Disco it CB).
As you can see extreme credit seeking when I didn't know better lol and even got 2 cards this year.
Delta looks good for intl travel and I got advice to apply next month. But honestly fearing that it's too early, even June, since my last card acceptance was Disco It in early February.
Or, I want Visa card, don't have it(all MCs), since it'll be beneficial at South Korea, etc. Want Sig, 5k SL. My thinking is I should be using Disco It(biggest SL so far 3k, unless you count Synchrony Amazon 4000k, which now I rarely use after 'massive' spending on it from Nov to Jan) for some time to establish some history for that limit.
If I want similar limit to Amazon I could app for Rakuten(same Synchrony), but I wonder if you have to have Amex card before that to accrue MR points on that Rakuten card? Does Delta count for that(can one pool pts on those 2 cards? They're both co-brand cards..).
Honest advice will be appreciated, I don't mind just sitting and letting those card age for 6 months at the least(hence apping in August), or even a year, just charging intl airfares on Disco It and CO SO. What's the use of Delta if I get 1k SL, when one way ticket IS that amount lol. Plus, I've spent too much from Dec on travels including car rental, will be retrenching for the rest of the year, not sure I can satisfy even 2k sub/3 months lol. So per my reduced spending, my current CC lineup and credit line is more than enough.
Honest advice, stop applying.
You got caught in the application hype, and it's not just what you applied for before "you knew better", you're at it now probably worse than before you found this forum.
You're jumping from Chase strategy, to Amex, planning Citi app, then you saw thread about Rakuten, now that's in differential, too.
A lot of members whose signatures and cards seem enticing to you probably have cards older than you. You are not going to get wish list items over night, I don't think profile as young as yours can handle much more of this. You're going to start seeing more toy limits and denials, and both of those will set you back for a longer time than you'd like.
Six months of not applying when you get 8 cards in a year is nothing.
Since I don't believe for one second that you can stop applying, I would suggest you do not apply for Synchrony cards given number of new accounts and applications that will continue to happen. You already have one by them, getting another one could result in total shutdown because again (I doubt this can be said enough) your oldest account is a year old.
Or conversely, you can continue and maybe you will be The One Who Avoided The Curse, but considering how many times this movie played on these boards, I wouldn't expect a different ending
Short synopsis : new young member, new accounts, "maximizing rewards", more cards, many denials, "what's a good BT card", disappears for six months to a year, "what's my chance of getting personal loan"
I would let your cards age more than 6 months. I think the 6 month thing is if you get like 1 maybe 2 cards. You got 8 in your 1st year. In your shoes I would focus on sp CLIs not new cards. Well technically I am in your shoes and I'm in the garden hopefully for 18 months to 2 years.

Yes, stop apping and leave the forum for a bit. While there are all sorts of things going on here, you won't hear "Credit cards, take em or leave em", even those downsizing are searching for the right ones to keep. So being here won't help you realize that, for now, you don't need to get more cards.
In addition to what's already been mentioned above, and not to deflate your balloon of hope, but you will likely not be approved for the Rakuten Visa. That's one of the most difficult SYNCB CCs to qualify. With your recent new apps/new accounts, etc., the odds are not in your favor, unfortunately. Having a $4K CL on Amazon isn't indicative of any odds for the Rakuten Visa either. Also, the AmEx Delta SkyMiles CCs do not pool nor are MR type of CCs.
You've already posted multiple threads addressing several CC strategies, anything from the 2022 strategy thread to the Hilton Honors card, Delta Cards, Chase, recent pre-approved offers (but not taken) from Kohl's, Apple Card, CareCredit and so on.
Moreover, both V/MC are widely accepted in South Korea, so there is no need to get a Visa when a MC can do the trick. It's hit or miss with AmEx which is more geared toward higher-end restaurants and/or hotels.
And, if you're unable to fulfill a moderate spending requirement, specifically for cards like the Delta Gold CC, then that right there pretty much a tell-tale sign of your current position.
I can tell you from experience that you need to cool off on the apps for a while. When I was early in my journey, I went app crazy after some approvals and finally starting to get approved for cards and it set me back bigtime. Your ficos are barely over 700, you have 24 inquires and 7 new accounts in 12 months which is crazy, and your oldest card is only1 year old. As mentioned in this thread, this will definately lead to denials, tiny limits, and possible closures (again, I've been there).
I would look at the $15,700 in CL you have as a gift, and sit in the garden for AT LEAST a year.

I'd also highly suggest gardening for at least 6 months, preferably a year, before apping for anything else. As FinStar mentioned, the Rakuten card is notoriously difficult to get approved for. But to answer your other question about it, yes you need an MR-earning Amex card in order to opt into MRs with the Rakuten; you have to sign into your Amex account via the Rakuten website in order to link your MR account.

Thx everybody, and I did resist the temptation to app for Delta Gold during promo 😁 But challenge accepted, hopefully I can post on an approval thread when my scores on all 3 bureaus hit 750s.
This forum is really not good for new CC addicts, it just wets appetite; so really should leave this forum for a while, I'll try my best 😅

The first step in recovery is admitting the addiction, you're a step ahead! Good luck with the gardening bud, you got this!

That's viable option but so is practicing restrain while learning.
There is too much focus on * credit cards* and not enough other aspects of one's finances, which are by far more important than silly plastic.
People even lovingly refer to their card collection as "portfolio" as if they were an asset. They aren't, cards are liability.
Hanging out in Personal finances, learning how to save, how to manage investments, educational expenses, planning for retirement (people seem to think that there is "plenty of time left for that", that's wrong and false), learning how to position yourself for mortgage and auto loans...that's by far more important for your financial well-being than any 5 second rush from filling out applications and making grandiose plans.
Prepare yourself for remainder of your life, unlike a post in Approvals Forum, those steps have lasting effects.
