An inquiry only shows that someone looked.  Doesn't give approved or denied status.  Sometimes your score will initially take a hit from an inq and an acount sometimes you will see a significant increase.  Just depends on what your profile looks like.

Re: Applied for a credit card from CCCU

sounds good.

thanks Brammy. i will keep an eye out after CCCU pulls my file and approves or disapproves me.

i called today to check on the status and the gentleman on the phone told me that the credit card department was backed up in apps and that early next week i should be receiving a call with the decision.

i asked to see which cra they were pulling from and he said that they use EX which is my middle score (750). i cant wait to see if i can get approved. i have two accounts that are totally paid off but i accrued late fees on both back in 2004 and dont know if they will weight in heavily since they are a bit old. and my newer credit line is super current and actually a payment and a half ahead of schedule.

i think that if im denied i will not apply for anything else other than a mortgage this coming year. there i know i stand a better chance for a good rate since i have a VA Loan certificate in my hand.

IMHO, the only thing that will keep you from approval is if you have a high DTI.  The VA cert will guarantee that house ince therates are fixed and the score only has to be around 620.

Re: Applied for a credit card from CCCU

well didnt get to talk to patty mc. but i had the distinct oportunity to get called by the assistant vp offering me a humble 1000 CL as a counter offer to my 6000 requested.

i figured that 6k was probably too much considering that i dont have any credit cards on my report.

i do feel a bit disappointed because you would think that with a 750 for score no lates in the past 3 years, zero inquiry's and only one installment loan in use i would be able to do better than that but then again thats my life story... i just cant seem to ever find a credit card to make it work for me. it just doesn't make any sense to me to see people with a hundred or more points less than my score getting way higher CL's

so with that in mind i move on to mortgage shopping and seeing if i can get approved for a shed at lowes or something.

i was at work in the middle of something when she called verifying info and i just didnt get a chance to ask for the reasoning behind that counter offer. so maybe i will give her a call tomorrow and see if i understand her logic.

by the way...i ordered and received my chex system report with absolutely nothing derrogatory on it. other than CCCU's inquiry.

sorry its long.. i just had to vent it out...
