Applied for credit card from DCU, is it normal to not get instant approval?

So back in January I signed up for DCU and refinanced my auto loan, and when they called me on the phone about my auto loan saying I was approved, they said I was preapproved for a credit card with a 1k limit and I denied. Just applied for a credit card a few minutes ago and it's pending saying they would contact me.

My auto loan was pending too when I applied but thats a bit different, I don't think they would do an auto approval on a car loan without calling and verifying info like your vehicle VIN number and make and model and year and mileage and what not.

If anything my credit utilization approved since late January because my Macys card finally reported my $4700 credit limit since I refinanced my auto loan with DCU back in January. Before that I had my ancient $300 Macys Credit Limit reporting.

Re: DCU applied for credit card, is it normal to not get instant approval?

DCU pretty much "looks" at every credit request, their idea of instant is if it goes to approved within 24 hours. That's the way it was when I was first approved for $7400 and when I I requested an increase to $10.5k - both granted, but it took 24 hours or so to go from pending to approved. Note on the CLI, I ended up talking to them on the phone because they dropped my APR and gave me a CLI.

I went ahead and uploaded copies of my last two paystubs as well. Just to be ahead of the game. They didn't ask for any copies of my drivers license or social security when I signed up for DCU back in January, and asked for nothing for my auto loan either. And I've been having my paychecks direct deposited to my DCU checking since I signed up as well, But well I went ahead and uploaded my paystubs anyways, it can't hurt.

Welp, it looks like I was approved! I clicked on the view loan button and it said "stipulations" and it said most recent paystubs, which I uploaded immediately yesterday after I completed the app. Not sure what my CL is or which one of their credit cards it's for, the app only gave me 2 choices, new visa or cli. Not sure if they're going to call me either saying im approved or if i'll get an email or anything. Nothing showing up in my online banking when I log in either yet.

That 2nd app that says incomplete, that was a 2nd app I accidentally started and I msged them yesterday saying it was an accidental 2nd application and that they can delete/cancel it.

Congrats on the approval. You can call them to find out the SL. When I applied with them back in December it came up as an instant approval with the option for the rewards or the low interest card @ 7500. But I applied for a car loan and it went pending for 24 hours, and a personal loan and it was approved in 10 minutes. Its funny how some things are instant and others are not.

Looks like I missed it, when you click the view loan button, says I have a $2000 credit limit and I got the DCU Platinum (And not the Platinum Rewards)!

Awesome! I wanted the platinum and not the platinum rewards, it never gave me a choice but Im glad I was approved for the one I wanted! Not sure what the APR is but I don't plan on carrying a balance on it.

Congrats !

I too chose the no rewards low APR card as their best option.

Welcome to DCU's "instant" approval - heh

I actually respect that about a lender that likes to manually review apps and what not.
