Someone had mentioned that their brother works for AMEX, and that if your scores is between 640-680, it woudl be best off to apply at the airline website (in the thread where i read it from, it was Jetblue). Is this true? Well, I went on delta.com and click on the AMEX application page and it started as www.262.americanexpress.com , and immediately went to AMEX website and it started out as www.304.americanexpress.com. Anyone has better clue at this? I'm in the garden so i'm not going to app, and my recent app for the PRG & Delta was denied (last week). Heck, I would definitely apply at the delta site if this is indeed true.
AFAIK, their underwriting criteria is the same in both places.
I applied once under each (different bonuses at different times) and didn't have a problem getting approved with a score at the time of just over 700.
I believe the airline website offers a bigger kickback to Delta though.
and if you are a bigger spender you can use the creditcard.com match took for a totally different offer; 45k for 5k spend.
