Approved: 25k Amex Everyday offer worth it?

I’ve been getting the 25k offer for the ED on incognito consistently; doubt I would put the card to much use apart from hitting the minimum spend in the first three months. Currently only have 2 cards and a small student loan ($2750) reporting (use the Gold card for all of my spend though, opened it in March and loving the new benefits especially since my two biggest spend cagegories are restaurants and groceries by far). The points would be nice, just wondering if you folks think opening a new account would be worth it.

Side note, when I’m signed in on Amex it does show that I’m pre approved for the card; my Experian Fico 8 is ~730.

It does earn MR points which is a program you're already utilizing with the Gold card.
I have it and it rarely gets used.

I got mine for the BT offer and the 25k points. I doubt it’ll get any use after my offer expires.

IMO, with only 2 cards (and thus you should be below 5/24) and so many options out there, I wouldn't rush for the Everyday card especially with already having an MR earning card.

I would look around at other offers/lenders and see if there's anything more beneficial to "spend" a new account on. Most people with the Everyday card do not seem to use it much.

I’m extremely happy with the Gold card and don’t really have any intention to leave the Amex network (I’m happy hoarding MR points for the time being lol); only reason I considered the ED is the higher SUB I keep finding, and the fact that I could probably hit the 20 swipes a month to get the 20% bonus— I’d just put all of the miscellaneous spend I would otherwise put on my Gold card on the ED and then get slightly better value (1.2MR vs. 1).

If you're gonna use it for Gen spend to get 20 swipes for 1.2x, you're better off going down to your local city offices, taking about 25 minutes and about $25, and start a sole proprietorship. Don't lie but if you sell **bleep** on eBay or something that's enough they don't like inspect your eBay account to start a sole proprietorship. Then you can open the blue business plus, but I'd also look at the chase ink cards first (that's the card I got a sole proprietorship for), the SUB can be 50-80k UR points easily. Note that for the Ink Cash and Unlimited, you'd need a sapphire card to redeem the CB as UR points. But you can get the Sapphire Preferred with the annual fee waived in year 1 and there's another 50k UR points.

Wait till you are ready to open another AMEX charge card (preferrably after you are over 5/24) and apply for ED with it on the same day in order to combine the HP and leave a way for yourself to keep the MRs (automatically pooled) after closing the charge cards.

click on the card, click on apply - does it say pre-approved?  bet it does.  its a worthless card imo, better to get a BBP and do 2 referrals for 30k and nobody gets hurt rather than take a aaoa hit.  what is the age of your file and aaoa?

<Mod edit:  Sorry, we can't use myFICO for that.  --UB>

If you don't mind opening the new account, the bonus points are certainly nice and then you would have a back-up card to protect your MRs in case your Gold is ever closed.

Re: 25k Amex Everyday offer worth it?

OP, 25,000 MR for the no-AF ED card is as good as it gets.

You should get this card with the 25k bonus.

Sorry, but many others commenting on this one are getting off-topic. This is the MF member habit of “I like this card so you should go here” rather than looking at the OP situation as it is.

As the OP notes, this will pair nicely with the Gold. 1.2MR for non-category spend. No added AF.

It is quite possible there will be no HP for this app. No guarantees of a SP, but high probability.

OP only has one revolver. The Gold isn’t helping score as a revolver would. This would make 2 revolvers.

After OP has the ED for a year, it is likely an upgrade bonus will be offered for the EDP. AF on that one, but the non-category spend goes to 1.5MR. OP will have a better idea then whether it will be a useful upgrade.

OP is still under 5/24, but with no current interest in Chase not a concern anyhow.

Posters suggesting to look at other cards outside the MR space are encouraging the OP to dilute spend rewards. Staying in the MR space can help get to meaningful MR levels for redemptions.
