OH MY GOD!!! Oh crap! OH MY GOD!! Oh crap! *hyperventilating*
I got approved for a Discover More card just now! I had received two pre-approved offers from them and had until April 28 to accept their current offer.. My current utilization is at 47% and I wanted to trim that down before that date so I could apply OR was going to wait until they sent their next pre-approved offer.. Circumstances (short upcoming vacation) led to me needing a little more credit than I had with my other two credit cards ($1000 and $1200 respectively) so this morning I put in a request for a credit line increase on one of the cards and am waiting to hear back from the credit union.. I then called Discover moments ago and accepted their invitation. My cheap-garbage cell phone made the application process almost painful but fortunately the rep didn't hang up on me out of frustration.lol
When she submitted the application, that had to be one of the longest 10-seconds of my life, lol.. My heart was racing, I crossed both my fingers and legs hoping to hear good news. And then my negative side took over and I feared that I might have just wasted an inquiry.. But then the rep returned and said "CONGRATULATIONS, You've been approved. Your card should arrive within 7-10 business days." I was like "Dude, WHAT????" And then I asked her what the credit limit was and she said $3500.. My eyes bugged out. That's friggin HUGE! For me at least!
So now, not only is First Premier fired (that was a done deal when I got a Chase Slate recently) but I think my HSBC 2% Mastercard may be put on notice too. It's a low limit card ($420) with an annual fee. I was originally tempted to hold onto it because it was my only rewards card, but now with the Discover More satisfying the rewards category and with a MUCH higher credit limit, there's no longer anything saving the HSBC card from getting a pink slip too.
Equifax: 632 ------ 14 inquiries.. (None in 2011, 2 in 2010)
TransUnion: 674 ------- 2 inquiries... (None in 2011, 1 in 2010)
Experian PLUS: 650 ---- 14 inquiries.. (2 in 2010, 1 in 2011)
Have a total of 5 student loan late payments from late 2008... 23 late student loan payments in 2006 and earlier.
Been rebuilding since July 2009 when I first got the First Premier Mastercard, and it wasn't an easy road to travel. There were quite a few frustrating moments (declined applications, declined credit line increase requests) but when it comes to the rebuilding process, patience really is a virtue.
Now, the only card left for me to get is a Citibank card and then I'm completely done applying for cards, maybe forever.
Congrats !!

Congratulations! One of the best opening lines I've ever read.
And thanks for reminding us all that none of us can turn things around overnight, and that it takes determination and focus and patience and time. And a plan.
Nice starting CL. Congrats!
That's wonderful!!! What a great rebuilding story! Congratulations!!!!
Congratulations!! Great card to have!!
Congrats!
Great job! Congrats!!!
Congratulations! This is THE only card I have yet to get. I've got ALOT of inquires due to just getting a new car, and figure I have to wait awhile before I try for it. It will feel great when you get to clip BOTH the First Premier and HSBC 2% card!
Congratulations and very nice limit!
