Watch out guys, we have a baller over here
I will try it Sunday then. Discover is my only card unchipped now except for Best Buy.
LOL.
Can't hurt to try, right?
Do you actually have a lot of places that use the chip?
I don' think i have any place I could use one... maybe at cvs i suppose, if i wanted to take longer to checkout.
Walmart
Yes.
I don't shop at Walmart or CVS. Do you know of other stores? Also, Discover isn't widely used in Europe, right?
Yes but when it works I had the issue that the card was not readable...so not sure if it is just a swipe issue as Europe reads chip everywhere. Discover and Cap1 are my only no FTF cards without a chip. So it looks soon Cap1 will be alone 😊

Yes.
everytime i have tried to insert emv chip card i get yelled at by cashier . They yell at me what are you doing slide it. It doesn't matter if its my CSP or EDP or BCE i always get yelled at!!
Well, if it goes through when you slide it then they don't have EMV activated anyway. None of my local walmarts have it turned on but they have the slots ![]()
If you're getting yelled at by cashiers then maybe it's time to change your shopping habits and switch stores.

Theoretically, couldn't you just use your cash advance pin?
Maybe. I'm not sure why they aren't setting it up to work that way. Pretty sure most Pin & Sig cards say that you'll be able to use the magnetic strip overseas and to use it tht way. That's not very helpful for any automated kiosks/vending machines :/
@Anonymous wrote:Wish these Chip & Sig cards had an option to add a pin for International reasons.
They have pin and work on pin if a merchant would not accept signature but I have to find such a merchant first
...US chip card work but if you are used to enter the pin the signature is just a hassle but the cards work just fine. I have been using mine in Asia for the past 4 weeks, chip & signature or Discover swipe and it worked just fine except my lousy signature made me sign again and show ID..lol..that is when I miss my European chip & pin cards most 😍 ..no hassle with signature. Other than in the US merchants do verify the signature on the back of the card..lol

Only if the CVM list on the card allows online PIN to be used for puchases. ALL MasterCards allow this, US-issued Amex DOESN'T - Visa, it depends on the bank.
Also, this is only useful for some unattended terminals that do not support signature. It doesn't help at ATTENDED terminals and with merchants who hassle you about the signature slip.

ALL Walmarts have it turned on in a strange, insecure, permissive but non-enforcing mode. In this mode you can swipe or use the chip. It's ridiculous that they're deliberately degrading security like this.
They used to be fully enabled and enforcing, but they disabled enforcement. It's ridiculous, insane, and one person on another forum has already been bit by it (a counterfeit magnetic stripe from their chip card was used at Walmart, which wouldn't have been allowed if Walmart was set up properly).
I've been meaning to PC over to Discover It. Maybe they'll send me a chip enabled one if I do it tonight?

Walmart
I tried target tonight and their equipment was only "programmed" for EBT chip cards, I was slightly infuriated, so after having a major breach the only thing they are concerned about is Gov benefit cards????

How do you figure out the cash advance pin? Is it somewhere in my Amex documentation?
