I have a Discover it Chrome card, 5 years old. I have better cards to use for cashback, but want to help my friend build his credit, I added a friend as an authorized user, so I'll make some purchases with my Discover card. How much per month minimum should I spend to help him? Is $50 per month good enough?
You'll want to allow a reported balance of 5% or less (1% is fine). If this is his only AU card, this will also avoid an AU all zero penalty (3 to 5 point loss).

You also may want to use the card that is under his name instead of yours, I have seen being reported and factored in for scores differently based on who is using it.
I have an AU with Cap1 that AU scores get effected based on who use the card.
I have the Discover It Chrome. I was very surprised that the credit card number of my AU was the same as mine, same for expiration date and security code. Only the name was different. Does that mean that when I pay online, I must be careful about putting my friend's name in Billing, instead of mine?

No. Who used the card and who payed the bill isn't reported to the bureaus.

It's the same info, it doesn't make a lick of difference.
