Auto upgrade Walmart Card to Discover

So randomly I got a letter saying that Walmart was upgrading my card/account from their store card to the Discover card. That was about three months ago and now the card is here. But we are going through escrow....if I call to activate the card is it an inquiry? Thanks.

Yes, it will report as a new TL. When does your escrow close?

November, wow I'm so happy I didn't activate that card! Can I call them and tell them I'm interested but I can't do anything until after we close?

I can't remember but I thought their was an expiration date for activation. You might want to check but November just might be too long. In the end, the house is obviously your priority.

Just checked my paper work. It said to activate by Dec 14. I had the upgrade offer in the mail also. I always keep my paper work in a file.

I recieved mine about August 13 so they must give 4 months to activate. YMMV

Thanks for checking. I'm not at home now so I didn't want to guesstimate.

OP, you should definitely check your paperwork. Sounds like you might be able to close escrow and still be able to keep the upgrade.
