BOA: Multiple Inquiries BOA and FIA

Is this standard or does it look like I'm being denied? I accepted the BOA Platinum Plus Pre-Approved Visa on the BOA website on Friday. At the time, my EXP FICO was 737 and I saw an inquiry on my report from BOA. I also saw an inquiry on my EQ report from FIA CSNA--at the time my EQ FICO score was 703.

I suspect that the FIA inquiry was after the initial BOA inquiry but I'm not sure.

The message I received on the web-site was thank for accepting. You'll receive information within 10 days...

BofA has ben doing multiple hards for some reason lately.  They got me twice on EX of all places when opening a checking account.  Have you app'd anything else recently?

Re: BOA: Multiple Inquiries BOA and FIA

Appd for Citi PremierPass in October and was approved. Since then I've paid several credit cards down to 0 and a few others are reporting small balances. Still waiting for 2 credit cards to update with 0 balnce, but as of now my util is between 30-40%. It was in the 70's one month ago. Scores have gone up so I was expecting BOA to instantly approve me, especially with my EXP FICO of 737.

By the way, the inquiry knocked my EXP down to 729 from 737..

Re: BOA: Multiple Inquiries BOA and FIA

Was wondering if you had app'd another BofA product like a checking or savings account.  It does seem as if you would have gotten an instant unless they are trying to decide on your limits.

I'm in NY.  DH got hit twice from them as expected.  EX for card app, TU for checking/savings.

Up until recently their web app used to let you apply for a card as you were doing the banking app... but not anymore.  I imagine that might have been only 1 hit but can't speak from exerience as we did not app at that point.

If you only app'd for 1 cc.... I'd ask BoA to remove or recode the most recent which would probably be the EQ.  Actually, I'd request the EX to be the one that is removed or recoded as everyone seems to be pulling them more than EQ and TU so that would free you up a slot for the future.

Re: BOA: Multiple Inquiries BOA and FIA

EXP is my highest score, but to me it seems that most creditors are pulling TU or EQ. Anyway, I'm fine with the inquiries as long as they approve me. My concern is that the 2 inquiries were as a result of an initial denial from BOA and then they turfed it on down to FIA perhaps for a lesser card or something. The little I've heard or read about, FIA was previously MBNA and in my mind it looks like a secondary issuer instead of the more prime BOA. Of course I could be completely wrong, but...

I'm thinking Brammy hit on it... they are trying to figure out your limit.

My personal opinion is that you got the card you requested and either they repulled for the credit limit or if there was something teeny baddie on your EX and they wanted a 2nd report.  I understand your concern about the FIA pull but IMHO it doesn't mean anything... I've gotten (PP) pulled by various divisions of merged creditors for no apparent reason now and then.

Call BoA directly and see if they have any info for you yet.
