Speaking of AMEX and back-dating, so when is the optimal time around New Years 14' to apply and if someone applies at that time does it go back to January 2013? Not quite sure I understand the entrie concept.

For example your first Amex account was opened in 2000.
If you are to apply in Jan 2014, it will be backdated to Jan 2000.
So if you've never had an AMEX, the month and year you first apply in on your card?
