Re: Bank of America Combine to one card of $99,900

It is my understanding BoA limits total exposure to 1/2 of reported income.

Cool, good to know.  Any chance you could share your income stated with them and what the SL on the card was / how the growth process went to your current limit?  Thank you for your time.

Nice job, OP!

What is the threshold income wise for exceeding $99,900 in total credit limits with BoA?  I've seen quite a few members reference that dollar amount as their cap, but have also seen others post total limits north of $100k, presumably due to their greater income.  I'm just curious if we know where that income line is drawn?

Second, has anyone been able to grow a single BoA card to $99,900 without combining the limit of two cards?

Finally, is a single $99,900 card the target of any greater AA (CLD) chance compared to if that limit was kept split between two cards?

Not only have we had members go to $99.9K without combining limits; we've had some go over, including one recently @Anonymous.

See this posting from @simplynoir showing a CLI on Premium Rewards to $120K.  In this case, it wasn't really income-related as much as spend.   I don't think Bank of America throws those higher limits out based on income alone.  I believe it takes either higher levels of spend or high levels of assets invested with Merrill Lynch to break that $99.9K ceiling.

Re: Bank of America Combine to one card of $99,900

Yes I do recall reading that thread, as I responded in it as well.  I do recall his spend being significant and saying in there that a 6 figure spend definitely warrants a 6 figure limit.  I do think it would be quite difficult to achieve a 6 figure spend on a card without significant income though, generally speaking.

SL cash rewards was 11k - I never requested a CLI for about one and half year

after about a year

Then app for Bankamericard (SL 12K) - needed some balance transfer

I normally request CLI for both cards at same time

Cash rewards 11k - 20K - 32k - 55k

Bankamericard : 12k - 21k - 36k - 44.9k

i have had the cash rewards for about three and half years , Bankamericard 2 years

combined the cards in October.

Hopefully I will see the LUV button soon and will call for 150K - just for the kicks . I won't do it online.

Re: Bank of America Combine to one card of $99,900

Does BoA have a hard rule with total exposure relative to income?  Just looking at the OPs data, it could appear that 50% might play a role.

Re: Bank of America Combine to one card of $99,900

I'm an AU on a card that is at $99,900 without being combined with others.  My Travel Rewards card that is at $90,000 (after asking for a CLI where they took some from my Premium Rewards card) was a combination but likely I would have ended up there anyway. As for income-to-limit ratio, no idea.  $99,900 is less than 50%.  Usually getting over that mark requires significant BOA/Merrill deposit balances or an insane amount of spending.

FWIW my income is not the issue. If it was solely income they needed they would have given me higher limits awhile ago. While I have assets invested that is just enough with some wiggle room to qualify for their Platinum Honors tier, I think the spend is what pushed me over that $100k threshold. Add the fact that there was no counter offer on CLI request means I probably left some on the table but how much I don't know. I'll see what we can get with DW's PR card soon. It's been our personal spend card sitting at $36k for awhile since she hasn't asked for a CLI in some time
