Re: Bank of America Visa Signature Question!

Here is a data point for you. Last year, I applied for one of BoA's credit cards, and was approved for a 3k starting line. I didnt even activate it because I would never carry something that small in my wallet. Three months later, I opened a checking/savings account with them, and set up my direct deposit. Shortly after the first direct deposit posted, I applied for the same credit card, and was approved for a 22.5k starting line. Nothing on my reports changed, scores were still the same, the only difference was I established a relationship.

YMMV, but from my perspective the relationship made a huge difference.
Active Cards: AmEx BCP - $70k | NFCU Flagship Visa - 80k
Inactive Cards: Citi CCR MC - $43.5k | Citi AA World MC - $17.5k | Discover IT - $10k

Chase is an example where $5k Visa Signature and $10k Visa Infinite minimums are absolutely firm.

For the Sapphires yes, they won't approve a CSP (Visa Signature) below $5K or CSR (Visa Infinite) below $10K, but they will hand out Amazon Visa Signatures as low as $500.  So with Chase it depends on the card/family.

It's possible that the Freedom cards may be issued as VS or regular Visa depending on the starting limit.  Or MC/World/WEMC for the CFF.

The $5k minimum for VS is by no means firm, but up to the lender.

Also, in my experience a CLD from over $5k to below $5k won't cause a downgrade from Visa Signature either.
