Barclay APR Reduction...

I know they're anything but popular here on the forums, but I called in last night and got my APR lowered from 16.24 to 13.xx (can't remember the exact number). Also tried for the SP CLI but was told no offer was available and didn't feel like burning a TU HP either. Oh well--there's always next year. This is now one of my top 5 lowest APR CCs.

Very nice! Barclay seems just a bit stingy with SL, CLI, APR. Aside from the benefit in knowing you have a tradeline with a good APR, do you plan to use it to carry a balance, hope that it will induce other lenders to offer you lower APRs, or is it moreso just in case you need it? Just wondering. I certainly like cards with low APRs, but I don’t really sweat it if not since I PIF unless it’s a 0% BT, in which case I PIF prior to 0% expiration. Thanks for sharing!

Truth for me ... Barclay's whacked (reduced) 4% off of my Sallie Mae giving me a really low rate (9.90%) along with a revolving credit limit and a World Master Card so I think they can be generous on occasion!

Called last night UBER card and got it down from 21.99 to 17.99..  Interesting thing is Barclay's changed their APR reduction policy as well as did my AA card with them last week as well to be only ONE apr reduction per year where-as a person use to be able to typically get one every approx. 6 months with Barclay's if their profile supported it.  So this appears to be a fairly new barclay's policy that i wasn't aware of and it is the front end CSR that took care of the apr reduction vs. being transferred to retentions like it use to be

CC... they know you and had an opportunity to put a smile on your face Remember, policies like cards with Barclays are subject to change frequently so feel free to see if you can't get one in six months. Looked back and I was getting 1% at a time around every six months or so until they finally gave me a 4% reduction.
