No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
Once you log in, you will notice the complete lack of features all major credit card compaines offer on their website. It is a basic website design with no way to request a CLI, no online chat feature and no iOS or Android phone app. You can tell Barclays threw a bone to this company (who made their name in the sub-prime loan industry)by getting their credit card divison off the ground. Some could argue a "clean" look means basic with no features.
They also do not offer Apple Pay...

So i also received this conversion letter and like many this card was opened years ago to rebuild credit. When my husband lost his job in 2014 i had a couple of late payments and i noticed all of that information transferred over to the new card! I’m wondering if i can get those removed since the late payments were not originally made with this company?? Thoughts? From a bankruptcy got this card when my credit score was barely 500. Score now 650, goal 750. Removing those lates sure would help!
Legally, when a purchase agreement occurs between both entities, the acquiring party will inherit all of the data that transfers from the seller which includes all the account history. So, if the late payments reflected (and as previously reported on the CRAs) are accurate from the seller, the receiving entity is legally bound to report the same information. Too soon to tell whether the Mercury CC would even entertain any type of GW adjustments.
Although my Mercury Card arrived, I have not activated it or touched it at all. I does not show in my open accounts on my credit reports. As a Barclay's Rep explained the Mercury Card was scheduled to be shipped to me before I closed the Barclay Rewards account and thus I can ignore it. I will continue to monitor my reports to ensure that it does not report and throw it in the paper/card shredder in a few months.Looks like I dodged a bullet on this one.
I do find it interesting that only 1 of my 2 Rewards cards were transferred to Mercury. I initially got the Barclay Rewards MC and later got the Sallie Mae and we all know what happened to that one. So, Barclay kept the Rewards card that was at one time a Sallie Mae and sold the Rewards card that has always been a Rewards card.

I spoke with a CSR Rep tonight - she was polite and did everything in her power to help me, but the CSR can only do with what they're given. If the card website and lack of ability to communicate or do anything with the company other than use the card and pay the bill are any indication, I feel for the CSR's.
This card will become a paperweight immediately based on my recent interaction. I had a balance on my Barclay card when it was transferred to this new company (Mercury Card Services / Credit Shop) and just did a balance transfer to a better issuer (Discover). The transaction has posted to my Discover account (2 days prior) but Mercury couldn't let me know if they've received the funds. My balance doesn't show the transaction, the CSR can't see the transaction - all she could do is tell me that it may take them (Mercury) up to 30 days to process the transaction. I get it, they can't do anything fast, OK - but it would be helpful if they could at least acknowledge receipt of the transaction. Yes, I will end up having to make a payment (actually, for the next 30 days I'll owe BOTH companies for the balance
) but that's not such a big deal. Its being told 'yes, you will have to wait 30 days before we'll even acknowledge we've been paid'. So, if there's an issue with the transaction, nobody will know for at least 30 days?
YIKES
After getting set up with Mercury from the Barclays sell off, I set up the auto-payment for October 18. After checking online, it did not happen, so made a regular minimum payment. (Only had a $191 balance). So I get a call this morning from Mercury saying that I had missed my payment and that I owed a late fee. Luckily, I had printed out my payment confirmation and told the gentleman from another faraway country the confirmation number. After he had looked it up, he tried to tell me that the payment was made "after 5 PM" and it was still late. So I demanded that he send me to "customer retention" where I spoke to Hannah and told her the situation. She apologized and waived the late fee. I told her to also remove ANY "late" notifications that might hurt my credit score. She said that was not a problem, but I will have to monitor it to make sure.
SO... It appears that Mercury is not interested in keeping any of Barclay's "lower score" customers and that is fine with me. I paid off the balance and will NEVER put this card in my wallet again. I won't cancel it right now, but as soon as my score can take it, I certaily will. Buyer BEWARE as far as Mercury goes. They're a bunch of **bleep**. At least they let me know before I put any more on it and I will warn everyone I can about Mercury's complete lack of interest in customer service.
