@Dw4250 wrote:Arrival had a great sign up bonus. But the AF is relatively high, and you really need a high spend rate to justify what is basically a 2.2% cash back card.
My plan for my Arrival+ is to try to get the CL as high as possible through SP requests every couple fo months until the next AF is due, then close it and roll the limit to my Sallie Mae.
And with the upcoming changes, it becomes a 2.1% card, even more spend to justify.
Just out of curiosity, why the need for a large limit on Sallie? The caps are pretty low, and spending for 1% on it makes little sense especially given your other cards.

This. Since Barclays gives us the option of moving credit lines around, it makes sense to keep the extra $9k even though I will never put more than $1000-1500 through the Sallie Mae on any given month.

To a point, I get the utilization thing.
However, you have to keep in mind, every bit of credit you have is counting for your credit vs income, which is something looked at when you apply for cards. If your income is say 40k and one credit limit is 9k, you're using up some credit you could potentially have on a more useful card, because unless you are wealthy you're not going to get unlimited credit.
This is the reason why people occasionally voluntarily CLD their accounts - it's to "make room" so that they can have approvals/CLIs on things they actually want or will use more often. So while the whole "I want a large limit just because" sounds good, don't go too far with it because it can backfire on you eventually. (Especially seeing how many cards you already have)

YES CRS confirm today that they will be getting rid of the arrival+. Some kind of Notification before the end of the month. Still a $89 annual fee. Instead of 10% Back it will be 5% now. When redeeming your points for travel now redemptions start at 10k miles for $100 toward all or a portion of your travel purchases made in the last 120 days.
5k for statement $25.

I have an arrival and arrival +. I was told that they are NOT getting rid of either but are making changes in regards to the card benefits. Not sure what to believe.

I just reconfirmed by calling the backdoor number and talk to credit analyst and she confirmed the same thing I said but if anybody else would do me a favor and call up and see if they get the same answers that I got. Also they are doing away with the TripIt app that was free Will know longer be free. Also you will be able to apply for the arrival the middle of this month 15th or later on. Like I said please reconfirm maybe somebody can get more information than what was given to me.
