Re: Barclays CLI question

I am frustrated with Barclay. I started out in March 2014 with a $1000 limit, got a $250 cli at 6 months and then nothing. I did a HP for an increase back in April and got another $250. Called last week and got a 1 point APR reduction, which is great, but no sp cli.

They keep sending me these great balance transfer checks (Upromise) for 0% apr until like December 2016 and I would love to use one. But not much you can do with a $1500 limit, so I went for the HP. Got an instant denial, and then it appears they didn't even do a HP. I haven't seen one, and I did this last week.

Frustrating, as they won't budge for me. When it comes time to pare down my cards next year, they are going to be one of the first to go.

Re: Barclays CLI question

Received very large CLI like clockwork just after midnight when the 6th and 12 month statements cut. Used it heavily, maintained lowe utiilization, and made large payemnts. Good luck!

Re: Barclays CLI question

Also - be sure not to apply for other cards within the months after getting approved for a Barclay's. They are not fond of that.

Re: Barclays CLI question

I also think scores are a factor. You list your TU score at 614. That may be a little low for a CLI.

Re: Barclays CLI question

the applying for cards after barclay is super situational. i got barclay first then immediately 2 others and it's all been fine. so far... lol

Re: Barclays CLI question

Barclay's analyst herself told me that Barclay's frowns upon doing that. I've applied for 2 other cards in the past same day also, same as you, but would not keep applying for a number in the following months down the road and risk account closure. I'll take Barclay's word for it! Smiley Happy

No worries at all. Thanks.

It's ok if you wantd to complain! It's true that some credit card companies are a real pain in the butt, and others are great to work with! No shame in calling it what it is.

Re: Barclays CLI question

Really annoyed with this company.

I've never paid late, always pay in full, had card for over year with no CLI, I asked them about it throught their email service and they informed me that a hard pull would be needed.

They are lucky they give great rewards on paying utilities (only CC I have to does) or else I'd dump them.

Re: Barclays CLI question

some companies treat some people different than others. amex hasn't given me a CLI at all and in the first 3 months put around $5k through it and paid it off to a penny numerous times a month. limit is only $2k but their site said they'd approve up to $4k.. why not give me a CLI then? lol.
