Best Everyday Cashback

I tried for the AOD Signature card, but they only offered my a $2k CL, which mean no 3% cashback, so I declined.

My wife already has a Citi Double Cash for everyday stuff and the only category we don't have accounted for is online purchases.

I finally got the last bit of fraud off my experian credit report (equifax removed it a while do, transunion a few months ago) from years ago and my experian FICO8 jumped 127 points (it would have been higher, but I paid off a large balance on my REDcard the day AFTER a statement close).

So, I can now apply for a card regardless of which report they pull.

Are there any >2% general cashback cards (or 3%+ online shopping) other than AOD worth looking into?

I'd like to avoid triple pullers, like CapOne (especially CapOne)

EDIT: Annual fees are also a no go

Thanks for your thoughts

Re: Best Everyday Cashback

While my spend is Amex-focused, outside of that I'm quite happy with BofA Platinum Honors ($100k+ in assets, including brokerage assets).

Premium Rewards gives 2.625% with 3.5% on travel and dining. Not a full 3% but it has the $500 SUB.

My WWF Cash Rewards gives 5.25% on online shopping and 3.5% at Costco (subject to a $2.5k combined quarterly cap).

Personal spend: Amex Gold, Amex Schwab Plat., BofA PR+CCR(x2), Costco
Business use: Amex Bus. Plat., BBP, Lowes Amex AU, CFU AU
Perks: Delta Plat., United Explorer, IHG49, Hyatt, "Old SPG"
Mostly SD: Freedom Flex, Freedom, Arrival
Upgrade/Downgrade games: ED, BCE
SUB chasing: AA Platinum Select

OP you may want to take a look at the Wells Fargo Propel. It offers 3x on quite a few daily use categories with some decent protections and no AF. If you're not opposed to having a card that runs on the Amex network then it's a decent card that's worse a glance.

My wife has a WF Propel already. I don't mind it being AmEx, but we don't use it a lot (we don't buy gas at all or dine out a lot)

We also have a Discover IT, got denied for a Chase Freedom (5/24), BBT Spectrum Rewards (2% on cable bill- got it before the Citi DC), REDcard (5% at Target), and AmEx Cash Magnet (rarely use outside of AmEx offers).

Thanks though

Most of the cards are in my wife's name. I'm still really bummed about not getting the AOD Signature because that would have been amazing cashback.

Re: Best Everyday Cashback

The "other" generally available 3% card is USAlliance,

https://www.usalliance.org/banking-products/signature-card

This stopped taking applications around the time that AOD started, so most people went with that.   But USAlliance reopened apps and anyone can apply (they make the donation needed).   It's not quite as good as the AOD (it has a FTF, higher APR, and rewards aren't automatic) but still pretty good, as long as it lasts!

But check why AOD offered a low CL, because the same might happen here.    USAlliance do joint cards, so you could apply as joint with your wife.

I second the BOA cash rewards set to the " online shopping" category. It is an extremely versatile category.  Its the closest to 3% everywhere card you will find, without actually being a 3% everywhere card if you are clever about buying online, or buying store giftcards online to use in store. $2500 per quarter though. You and the wife can both apply separately for one bringing you to $5000 per quarter.

Im confused . You turned away the AOD card because you didnt get 5k sl? I may be slow but im pretty sure you would still get 3% on a 2k cl same as a 5k cl or am i missing something?. Many people couldnt even get approved , you still could have eventually got a cli. Most important is getting approved firstSmiley Wink

You only get the 3% back on the siggy, for which you have to have a $5k+ SL.

Re: Best Everyday Cashback

I never would have received the CLI b/c I wouldn't put enough spend through it at 1% cashback (non-Signature has paltry rewards), so I didn't get it. I may reapply in a year when my AAoA is higher.

They even approved me for the lowest APR (it had to be raised when they decided to only approve $2k
