As mentioned above, Ducks Unlimited. However, you can request a SP CLI over the phone with WF. When you call in they can put in the request, and if it gets denied immediately they send it to UW where they then perform a HP (told to me by a CSR). Of course YMMV, but this was what was explained to me

I requested a CLI on Propel after I got it. It went to UW but no HP (its possible they used the same HP for my app). I didn't get the CLI. Then requested one recently. No HP there. I got the CLI.

PNC cash rewards card is great for gas. If you don't have an existing account with them, it may require a few extra steps to get your online account access set up.

What was your SL on this card? I've had it since May and can't get a CLI. How long have you had the card?

Opened it in August 2018 at 10K. Got an auto CLI in June 2019 to 12K. Requested earlier this month to 18K, and got it.

Re: Best Gas card ...??

Just got a 50 dollar BP gc at 32% discount at citi easydeals. Granted, BP is usually 15-20% more expensive than cheapest gas around, still amounts to ~20% cash back on gas for next 5 months (I don't drive much).

No, it gives 5 points per $.    Comes to about 4.3% (using gift card redemption)

I love my Pnc and of course Discover 5% Cashback 3 months out of the year with their rotating categories
This is also my same strategy for the coming year. Using the Disco for 3 months @ 5% will insure I don't go over the $8000 cap for 4% gas and 3% dining for the year.

Re: Best Gas card ...??

The Wells Fargo Propel is HP for CLI’s is that correct? I was planning on getting this card at the end of the year for 3x on gas and streaming services. If it’s gonna be HP’s for CLI’s then I’ll pass on it.

I would advise people in general to reconsider that as a rejection reason.   Sure, if everything else is equal, maybe.   But if a card has good features, and the SL is adequate, you never need to ask for a CLI.    Cards really don't need to "grow"!

I tend to agree if you know (or reasonably suspect) you'll get a good SL. My BBVA card is my highest CL and it requires HP's for CLI's - but I did know my SL was going to be $15K+ before I app'd. That said, I'd hate to get a $1000 SL card and have to use a HP's to make it grow.

My thought in such a case, if HPs are an issue, is to cut losses.   So you have the inq and new account hit, but it will be horrible to use an HP and get say just another 1K CLI.

I can only speak for myself, but besides my mortgage, all of my credit accounts have all been opened in the last 2 years. HP's from 2 auto loans, and 7 credit cards are all still on my file, and since we paid for cash for everything besides my house for 15 years, my AAoA is less than 2 years old. If not for my 18 year old mortgage, it would be less than 8 mos. With that said, I'm trying to be very selective with HP's until at least late 2020, when a lot of them fall off. Some of my goal cards will most likely require a profile with a lot less HP's than I currently have, and most of them require HP CLIs as well, so at least for now, I'd pass on most cards with HP CLI's, except for ones like my BBVA card when I knew the SL was good enough to justify getting it. I won't even ask for a CLI on that card until 2021. I'll continue to put a bunch of spend through my Disco, BCP, PPMC, and PNC cards and try to grow them with SPs.
