BoA Cash Rewards CLI

Hey guys, I have a Bank of America Cash rewards card that was a secured card for $500. It unsecured in December 2014 at 9 months and was increased to $2000. I've heard BoA does automatic CLIs. This next statement will be 6 months from unsecuring or 15 months total with the card. Would it be likely to have an automatic increase with them after this statement or do they prefer you to take a hard pull?

Re: BoA Cash Rewards CLI

Also, I haven't redeemed any of my rewards yet. Should I?

Re: BoA Cash Rewards CLI

If you request it will most likely be a hard pull. If you choose to do that, aim high, they will counter offer.

I tend to redeem my rewards when I have $50-100 depending on the program, but that is purely up to the individual to decide.

Re: BoA Cash Rewards CLI

I haven't read many reports on auto-CLI by BofA, just a few, so my guess is that they don't do it at set times.

My DW went to 5k a couple of months before they auto-unsecured her card, they didn't increase the limit. I think they just cut her 6th statement after that and no auto-CLI. She is not using much her card because she got new ones and have bonus, so she needs to use her other cards. Also her largest limit right now is 6k, so she will not ask for a CLI any time soon.

I don't want to request it just yet, but at what point is a good time to request a CLI? I intend to request a CLI on this card at some point and then I was going to apply for the Discover Miles (probably next year), then I'm done Indefinitely.

BoA is generally good with requests every 6 months. I think when mine had a $2500 limit, I requested $10k and got $5k plus the upgrade to Visa Signature. They were doubling the limit just about every time I requested it. The hard pull is kind of a bummer, but they've always given me something in return for it.

Re: BoA Cash Rewards CLI

I did the same thing you did. Started with the secured. It unsecured last year and they bumped it up another $500, so I had $1000 and they upgraded it to the rewards card. I waited 6 or 7 months and hit the CLI button and I asked for $3500 and was instantly approved. about a month or so later they increased my another $1500 automatically.

I was surprised, I don't see a HP on my reports from my request.
