Purchases regarding services seems to be the more hit-or-miss with BofA. Supposedly this is the exclusion list here
You nailed it. If it's tangible goods and the purchase reports as being from xyz.com it codes as online. Services - no.
eBay can be strange as the purchase can be coded directly as an eBay purchase or coded as a PAYPAL *{NAME} EBAY purchase, but either way it codes as an online category bonus.
^ This has been my experience - I've been very happy with how broad the 3% online has coded. All kinds of little & niche companies that I've used it for have gotten me the 3%. Only once have I feel that I goofed with it (one company was overseas, so the 3% FTF negated the 3% CB... shoulda used my 2% for that one, haha)
What I found interesting is on reddit some people were reporting in-person transactions coding as online purchases presumably because the business was using a payment service like Square to process the payments. I'm assuming this is more to happen with small local businesses than traditional big chains
As with everything with category spending it all depends on how the merchants codes their business to see if BofA will pay out

Maybe with the new name they'd let me have it. HA
They'll give you the secured version I'm sure
Interesting, I just recieved a mailer for the Biz version and it's still go the same name. So either the change is only for the consumer version or this was last minute before they sent out the mailer. lol
As for the new name, yeah we all dream at knight on ways to make the name of a credit card longer than it needs to be..

When logging onto the site, the login page still shows the original name and logo, so does the page where you get more info and apply. Maybe they aren't changing the name on the marketing material until they officially release the card with the new name.

Or you could have the "$500 forever" version like I have. Though in my case, I requested it that way.
Looks like the new name has taken effect.
Judging from the card image, they don't even print the type of card on the card, so I'm guessing the card itself isn't changing, just the name you see on the app/website/statements.
