So I've been trying to call BofA and change my cash rewards MC to a travel rewards visa. The phone CSR kept telling me that it's not possible for now and I'll need to call later. Today I called and they told me it's actually impossible to change my card to a travel rewards because the travel rewards has no FTF while mine has, and the only possible way for me is to apply for a new travel rewards.
I wanted to ask if anyone was able to PC from a BofA card with FTF to one without FTF. The cash rewards has been useless for me and I can't even get a CLI even though it's 18 months now since I opened it.
Unless there's been a policy change the PC you describe should be no problem.
Unfortunately, achieving a product change with BoA typically requires persistence and hanging up and calling again sometimes several times before you get a rep who can process the request.

I think the days of PC with BOA is long gone. I have had mine since 2009 and had done a lot of PC over the years now it's the Amtrak NO AF card and can't PC it but you never know I was able to PC my Citi simplicity one day to Double Cash even thought I was told it could never me done but was done. BOA now all they want to do is for you to apply for a new account, but good luck you never know.

Strange. I could see not allowing to PC to a co-branded card or to one no longer available (Better Balance Rewards) but this is the first I have read about proprietary cards not being allowed. I have PC'ed my BofA cards many times, on the first request. BofA PC's do take over a month to be completed but that is beside the point. As others have said, hang up and call again. It may even be prudent to contact BofA through Twitter or Facebook, asking them to contact you. Social Media reps usually are the cream of the crop and are better able to assist.
It wasn't a FTF to no-FTF conversion, but I was able to PC my BoA Premium Rewards card to the Cash Rewards card back in January without any difficulty, which was supposedly one of the more troublesome PCs to achieve for BoA's in-house offerings.
I agree with an earlier poster that it's possible BoA is prioritizing more urgent customer requests at this time, as I do recall that the CSR emphasized a few times that PC requests had to be reviewed for approval.
I know when I closed my Preferred Rewards card a couple months ago they asked if I wanted to product change it instead of closing it. I wasn't interested so I am not sure what cards I could have changed it to. I ultimately just closed it out anyway. I was speaking with a rep stationed in their Belfast, Maine call center if that offers any relevant data point.
If pc not possible, maybe just app for it.
I did product change with BofA on three occasions, twice in branch and once by phone and without a glitch every time. I will add that the product changes were between non co-branded cards.
