The account manager said that if I wanted the Accelerated Rewards Amex, I would have to apply for it, which would mean a new inquiry and a new tradeline if approved. When I pressed her on the question of why this product change isn't possible when I know for a fact that BofA does product changes, she told me that this particular change is considered an "upgrade" rather than a simple change from one card product to another product on the same tier.I can understand that. It is frustrating, though.Oh well. I'll be happy with the one I have.

I'm also annoyed that they came out with the Accelerated Rewards card right after I made my switch.
