Well, it took three tries and about speaking to a total of about twelve different people but I finally have an answer.

I was told that there's no way to product change from Rewards Amex to Accelerated Rewards Amex. The account manager said that if I wanted the Accelerated Rewards Amex, I would have to apply for it, which would mean a new inquiry and a new tradeline if approved. When I pressed her on the question of why this product change isn't possible when I know for a fact that BofA does product changes, she told me that this particular change is considered an "upgrade" rather than a simple change from one card product to another product on the same tier.

I can understand that. It is frustrating, though.

Oh well. I'll be happy with the one I have.

HAH this is what I was told my first two times calling. Now I have the rewards Amex card......that's not clear >=(

I'm also annoyed that they came out with the Accelerated Rewards card right after I made my switch. It looks like BoA is about to lose of the fight for my wallet between them and the real Blue Amex. I'll put up with American Express risky behavior after dealing with BoA crappy customer service. I'd rather not put all my faith in their products.....there's only room 4 one amex in my wallet Smiley Surprised

Yes, I saw that you ended up getting the upgrade, nice job......persistence is the key it seems. I don't have the patience though, my ugly card will sit in a drawer LOL

Then maybe they'll ask why I'm not using it, I'll say "because it's ugly, can I get a black one" LOL, then maybe I'll get a nice upgrade to the Accelerated Rewards card.
