Re: CAP ONE CLI DECLINE : (

Ok, so here's an update of my situation. I finally got the letter in the mail from Cap1 explaining the reasoning behind the denial.

"there are too many delinquent past or present credit obligations"

So, what do to now is my question I suppose?

Since the letter also states I can get my reports for free w/i 60 days is this going to show up on my reports as an inquiry from Cap1-I was under the impression that it wouldn't so I hope not-can't afford to lose any points!

Also, do I send a copy of this letter to the CRA's with my request for my report?

Should I try a different backdoor number?

It's my only CC so I'm kind of at their mercy....

Thanks again to EVERYONE to posted-I really appreciate the input : )

Unfortunately blondie this was probably a hard inquiry.

You will see this on your reports if so.

As far as looking at your report, go to each Credit Bureau's website and on there will have instructions on receiving your credit report either in the mail or online if you have recently been denied.

I would also call again and ask for a reconsideration although I think with cap 1, it is all computerized and they can not do a manual override. I could be wrong.

I would try also to continue to better your report with GW's and PFD if possible.

those deliquencies are hurting you.  Present obligations mean you have a lot of new credit and you need to allow that to age and show proof of being  able to handle it.

Hope this helps and keep us updated

Re: CAP ONE CLI DECLINE : (

thanks oracles for you reply. is it normal for a CC company to do a hard inquiry on someone who just asked for a CLI? I wasn't aware that a hard pulls were necessary!!! : (

i am working as we speak to clean up my reports but i have two CO's that aren't due to fall off for another two years about so i'm not too sure what more i can do....

i *might* try a different backdoor number and try again or at least see if i can get more info out of someone

Re: CAP ONE CLI DECLINE : (

Yes blondie a hard pull could be done if asking for a CLI.

chase will always do a hard pull if you ask for a cli.

That is why you must always ask before requesting to see if it will be a hard pull.

Some companies do soft, some do hard YMMV

As for the charge offs, have you done any PFD.

Ask if they will delete if you pay.

If you already paid the charge offs, then i would send goodwill letters.

hope this helps

Re: CAP ONE CLI DECLINE : (

not sure, but i don't think cap1 ordinarily hard pulls for cli's unless you need to escalate a request, so you may be ok.  chase, for eg., apparently does ordinarily hard pull for cli requests...

i just got a cap1 cli w/o a hard pull a few weeks ago.

Re: CAP ONE CLI DECLINE : (

Capital one doesn't pull hard for CLI's. When I asked last week they said It'd be a soft pull, checked my credit report to confirm as well. It's soft.

Re: CAP ONE CLI DECLINE : (

oh this is very good,

I would still recommend before requesting a cli with any company, always ask first if it will be a hard pull.

Unfortunately sometimes the frontline rep doesnt know anything and will tell you one thing and it is actually something else. YMMV
