CHASE Account CLOSED/ UPDATED!!see message 56

Hello! I recently got a notification stating that my card account was closed due to insufficient credit info! I am very shocked. I made my first payment in full, and stated everything correctly. The card is a Chase Sapphire Preferred that was approved on march 30th. One time, almost at the beginning of having the card, a payment bounced but it was a problem with a routing number which was incorrectly given to me. I fixed it the next day and the payment went through. TODAY, I called and they told me that the problem was that returned payment, and the credit report info was not sufficient!?!? They told me they would review it again within the next 10 calendar days. I am sooo disappointed and scared to be honest, the lady told me that she understands that the routing number given was a mistake and that she wrote it for the review, but she could not do anything else. IF THERE IS RECOMMENDATION, that would really help!

Re: CHASE Account CLOSED

Looks like Chase didnt like the bounced payment and decided a bounced payment so close to the opening of the account possibly represented too much risk. Mistakes happen but I dont think Chase is sympathetic to those. Not sure if they'll reopen it or not but I'm going to think no. Sorry.

Re: CHASE Account CLOSED

There must be a way, it was a simple routing number error. The routing number was changed the next day and the payment went through without a breeze!

Re: CHASE Account CLOSED

Hopefully someone here with more experience with dealing with Chase will chime in soon. How does your current credit profile look like. If its strong, perhaps they can make an exception.

Re: CHASE Account CLOSED

My recommendation is to come over to Amex.
Since you mentioned they cited CR info not sufficient. How long is your credit history?
You're not the first person to post that Chase closed your account because of a returned payment.
Sorry for your troubles. Remember Chase isn't the only game in town. I'm sure other lenders will appreciate your business.
There may be a back door EO number you could call. Maybe someone here will post it. No guarantees it will help.

Re: CHASE Account CLOSED

Wait, so you was trying to do a bill pay or trying to deposit a check? I never have that happened before but there was a time where I didn't get paid from my job because I type in the wrong account number and I got paid when they fixed it. If they close it, you should be able to reopen the card, or what you could do is have a family member to get that card and add you as an authorize user, you'll get the card under your name and have the same benefits as when you did got the card. Thanks for letting us know, it made me aware to always be careful and double check everything!

Re: CHASE Account CLOSED

The routing number was when I put the bank account on the CHASE online portal.

Re: CHASE Account CLOSED

I'm surprised they approved you for that card from the start to be honest.
Chase has become REALLY particular about who they approve for the higher tier cards. Did you have other CCs with higher credit lines than the Chase card?
