Ohhhhhh, interstate mpney laundering and mail fraud! Expect the FBI real soon.
As I've said before, IF crackdowns happen, YOUR intentions don't matter. If buying a gift card is bad, the CCC doesn't care what you say you intended for, their rewards burden is the same. Volume should matter, but nothing to prevent MS sending cards to lots of confederates to cash out.
But if you believe the latest thread, a $50 BB gift card triggered a Chase shutdown.
LTL can't tell if you are serious or joking on the last part.... Think it is something different?
Too many threads so I didn't realize that this thread was that one! But....
This isn't a case where you might say "the OP isn't telling the whole story". To me, either this story is entirely made up (for whatever reason) or is fully true.
Based on past experience, I find it a little strange that the OP would be told the precise reason, banks hate doing that, "purchases inconsistent with the terms and conditions" etc is more common. And that a $50 GC on a capped card would trigger shutdown also seems strange. But, up to each person...
Lol I have a payment scheduled to post on the 31st for my remaining balance of only $42.00, before statement is cut on the 2nd... Wonder if I could cancel that payment, if that would make them feel warm and fuzzy.

Which leads us to the conclusion that an action triggers this closures... It is worrisome.

Part of me is really thinking the former option, given all the suspicious posts I keep seeing on this website lately, like someone who maxed out their Amex cards the other day and supposedly has their parents give them 5k a month.

LOL!!!!!
I'm not seeing any recent reports of similar closures at other forums.
I guess I'll see what happens in January when I buy $1500 of gift cards at Safeway...

Bwhaahaahaa! I want front row seats to that bear baiting event.
Seriously, you are going to use your Freedom card to buy GC from a grocery store in Q1? That seems exactly the pattern they want.
I was planning on getting some Starbucks reloads in Q1, but now not even certain I will do that. Will see where I am with the Marriott spend requirements first.
I really hope this is a Troll... Just a few threads that do raise concerns... My account is still in good shape atm though...Can't stop what or what will not happen though, so just gotta roll with it.. I know I didn't do anything wrong and they can cancel it anytime they would like... As stated in another post even if I carry a balance they aren't making anything off 0% interest for 15 months.. Thus it would be pretty dumb on there part to cancel these accounts!
