Wondering if you do a CLI request online within 10 days of being approved for a card with them will I receive a hard inquiry? Or do they use the same report? Or just call Backdoor on monday?

If you call and request a CLI within 30 days of app, it will be a soft, I just did it, and it was a soft. (I did get a CLI) After 30 days it will be a hard.
I made sure to ask the rep before I explained I was not happy with the CL they approved me with.
I believe I just called the # on the back of the card, and was transferred to an Acct. Mgr.

Also, any cli requests called into customer service, not backdoor number, every 6 months result in soft pull also. Only cli's requested thru a credit analyst (backdoor number) result in hard pull, per account requested on.

I could swear I asked a rep about requesting for a CLI in 6 months and was told that Barclays is Inq heavy, that they pull hard for all CLI's (with the exception of the "within the 30 day of app CLI request")
It sounds like you have been down that road with them, I do not doubt what you're saying, it's just I thought I remembered the rep saying they are Inq heavy on CLI's???

I haven't heard of whether calling in would be different then online. In fact I talked to a "customer relationship manager" on thursday and she said for the CLI she'd have to switch me to the credit department and they would have to pull my credit. So, I did it online hoping for a soft. However, it most definitely was a hard pull. In the end, not worth the hit IMO.

Yeah, I thought thats what the Barclays rep told me. I remember her saying "We are Inq heavy" we pull hard for all CLI's.
They must have changed recently, as when i called last Nov 2010, i was transferred from credit analyst because i didn't want to take a hard pull, to customer service who increased me 1k with only a soft pull. That's the only time i've ever received a soft. Both my pulls recently were thru backdoor and resulted in 2 hard pulls. It may be because my account was showing eligible on their system for an increase.
