Good Morning. I have a question. Will I have to unfreeze my reports to receive a credilt line increase?
I ask because I called to get a CLI on my walmart card, and she said she couldn't access my CR. I asked her was she doing a hard or soft pull. She stated it was a soft pull. So I'm confused, because I thought that a Security freeze on your account wouldn't affect CLI with credit cards you already have. Only on trying to app for a new card. I'm currently in the garden, and just trying to get CLI on my current cards. But when I hit the luv button I keep getting denied, and I'm wondering if the security freeze is why. Any information on this matter will help.
Thank you all in advance
Negative Ghostrider! If you have an ongoing relationship with a creditor, a security/credit freeze will not prevent them from being able to perform either an HP or SP on your account. A freeze is there to prevent new creditors from accessing your CRs.
I am curious if the Synchrony to Captial One switch is affecting this. Synchrony would not have issues because you have an established account and relationship. Capital One, not so much. Just a thought.
@Madyun1982, in theory, you shouldn't have to unfreeze your reports. But some banks have a policy that requires it anyway.
When the Economic Growth, Regulatory Relief, and Consumer Protection Act goes into effect September 21, 2018, placing and removing a security/credit freeze will be free.

Sorry to hear you guys have to pay. It's free on all 3 bureaus for me in NY, so I constantly do it whenever I'm submitting an app. I always assumed that was the case for everyone.

So brag about it, LOL
BofA couldn't do it for me, they wanted me to unfreeze my TU account. So, I passed and went to Amex and added a nice little chunk instead.
