Well,
I tried for some CLI's last week. Cap One/HSBC gave me a $1500 CLI when I only asked for $500. So that was a plus.
However,
I tried to do a CLI for AMEX and was rejected. My util is high on that account so I know why I was rejected. I figured I would at least try and that way I can see if they provide me a copy of my EX FICO...which they did.
But GECRB (American Eagle) rejected me. My util rate on the card is like 12%. They sent me a letter stating my score from TU was 665. It was done through the website. What does everyone think my chances of success are in calling for a reconsideration?
The odd thing is that my scores have not moved much even though I had 2 60 day lates removed from a Sallie Mae account, and I also paid down my util by at least 10% total. I think I moved up maybe 8 pts...if that.
At any rate...has anyone had success in calling GECRB for a CLI after being rejected? My only other options are to try and do CLI's on my Chase accounts...but I just asked the executive office maybe 2 months ago to drop my APR...which they did...big time. They also refunded me like $300 in back interest which they did not have to do...so I'm wondering if they will even consider a CLI.
I am not aware of any CLI reconsideration or any real reconsideration process with GE.
As for your score, you need to give a ton more info on your report to see if what will make a difference. My guess late wise, you have others so having some of them removed with having others helps a lot less (but really depends on timing of lates). Same goes for utilization. You can't judge in a vacuum

I wouldn't bother rocking the boat with GE they are just good of friend long term to bug them over a single CLI, get your UTL down. Can't tell for sure but it may be your high UTL on the AMEX card is causing the issue a high UTL even on a single card is a big hit on your credit score. No creditor likes high UTL reporting on any TL on a persons report. I have gotten several CLI from GE with 10-30% UTL on the GE back card with out a problem.
