CSP didn't give 2x

I ordered food from a restaurant the other day, it's showing up as "food & drink", however I was only given 1x points instead of 2x.

What's the best way to dispute that, to get my additional 1x?
The charge literally has "restaurant" in the name.

fwiw...

"Restaurant category merchants’ primary business is sit-down or eat-in dining, including fast food restaurants and fine dining establishments. Merchants that sell food and drinks located within facilities such as sports stadiums, hotels and casinos, theme parks, grocery and department stores will not be included in this category unless the merchant has set up such purchases to be classified in a restaurant category. Bakeries, caterers, gift card and delivery service merchants will not be included in this category unless the merchant has set up such purchases to be classified in the restaurant category."

Re: CSP didn't give 2x

It depends on the MCC code chosen by the restaurant. So, even if a place says restaurant in the name, it doesn't count for dining if it doesn't have the appropriate MCC code. You can look this place up to see what their MCC code is via the Visa Supplier Locator.

You just need to submit a dispute for the transaction and state what you just said.

Re: CSP didn't give 2x

5812 and 5814 are the only MCCs that should trigger restaurant bonus categories on Visa cards for Chase.

Re: CSP didn't give 2x

Thanks for the info. It's a sit down Chinese restaurant.
I just looked them up, and they're coded as 5462 - Grocery Store/Supermarket/Bakery. lol **bleep**.

It's only 31 points, so not earth shattering. But I'll submit the dispute tomorrow.

Thanks!!

Re: CSP didn't give 2x

Well, next time you go back use Discover for 5% back on groceries, unless they are coded correctly with Discover. 😂 (Usually Visa, MC, and Disco will be on the same merchant account for all but the largest of retailers that have direct processing with Discover so it should be the same.)

Re: CSP didn't give 2x

Don't grocery stores have some of the lowest combined merchant fees for CC processing, and restaurants some of the highest?

It may not code as it does by accident.

Re: CSP didn't give 2x

We have free-standing ice/filtered water machines that accept tap credit cards. They are coded to receive the 2x restaurant bonus with Chase.
