CSP to CSR waiting period

This is for everyone's information. I recently closed out my CSP ( had CSP for ~5 years) and applied CSR very next day. I was declined and called in mutiple times for recons (I had pretty solid credit score and relationship with Chase). I was informed about all kinds of reasons why I got declined. Finally, one rep told me the truth- after CSP is closed out, I need to wait at least 30 days before applying for CSR, or the system will just automatically decline me. This is new information to me. Let me post here in case someone has similar situation with mine, so no one waste a hard pull on this.

Also, is sapphire upgradeable to CSR without first closing CSP?

Yes, CSP is upgradeable to CSR though you have to wait at least 12 months before upgrading and you miss out on the signup bonus.

I didn't want to miss out the signup bonus-50K. Although it's only half of the best offer-100K, but bonus is bonus.

Sure. I'll reapply after the waiting period and keep you posted. 
Simplynoir is exactly right on this. Upgrading is possible. Just will miss out the bonus-50K, a big part to justifiy first year annual fee.

The 100K signup bonus is not coming back.  Chase lost too much money on it.  Consider 50K to be the new "best offer."

The OP had it for 5 years. Definitely could upgrade and receive the SUB. I would call to re-open the account to keep the account alive, then upgrade.... if possible

I don't think they give the signup bonus for an upgrade.  This is Chase, not Amex.
