CSR Downgrade options - plan to re app

Hey all - been a while!

I'm exploring downgrading my CSR in hopes of re apping for the 80k bonus. I'm well past the 48 month mark so I should be good.

Question to the group is downgrade options, I know about CFU/CFF but can we today still downgrade to the vanilla Freedom? I'm hoping so given the 5% categories for gas could be used at Costco gas with it being a Visa.

Thanks for any insight. Hope everyone is great!

Cheers

You can only get the Freedom Ultimate Rewards (i.e. "vanilla") by downgrading, so that's the one to go for if you shop at Costco.

From what I understand you can get the Freedom OG by downgrading. I'm also looking at downgrading my CSP next summer and getting another Sapphire bonus. I'll prob downgrade to a CFF and look at getting a CFU for a sign-up bonus.

Re: CSR Downgrade options - plan to re app

As others have mentioned, you can downgrade to the OG Freedom. That's what I did and I use mine for Costco gas too.

It's worth mentioning, IF you happen to have any Chase offers on the CSR that catch your eye, use them before PC'ing as those will be reset in the process.

I had a 10% CB offer for gas on my CFF before PC'ing it to the OG Freedom and was assured by the rep that it would be available on my Freedom. It was not.

Good luck!

Re: CSR Downgrade options - plan to re app

Awesome thanks everyone!

Anyone have DPs on how long I should wait between downgrade and re app? I was thinking a few weeks or a month?

Thanks again!

I do not recall if you can downgrade directly to Freedom or Freedom Unlimited.

Last time I downgraded CSR, I had to downgrade to the non AF Sapphire card.  Then downgrade again to Freedom or Unlimited.  That was years ago.

I just find benefits of CSR lacking.  I have the USBank Altitute Reserve to take care of the 1.5 cpps for cash travel booking.  Do not like all the junk benefits Chase added to CSR.

The Altitude is definitely a solid competitor! I would certainly consider it if I wasn't so "in" the Chase system.
