Re: CSR - In-branch approval?

Thanks for your speedy reply, ABCD...

So what you're saying is that if I am NOT pre-qualified, there's no point in "cold-apping" in branch?

What I use (& strongly recommend): Chase Sapphire Reserve | BofA/ML (Premium Rewards VS, Cash Rewards VS, Merrill+ VS) | AmEx (Amazon Prime Business)

What I have: NFCU | PenFed | General Electric CU | Wright Patt CU | Discover | BBVA | Apple Card (GS)

Total CL with Bank of America = $100,000 (Platinum Honors Merrill Client). I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ practitioner, so feel free to message me if you have any planning/credit questions.

Well, if you're not pre-qualified on the website, the marketing offers in branch are different and you MAY be pre-qualified there.  Definitely report data points if you check online AND in-branch.  Of course, there ARE no prequalification offers for CSR online, only CSP, but still...

If you aren't prequalified for anything online and have NO offers in-branch, I would say cold-apping in branch is still better for identity verification purposes.  The vast majority of 30-day notices on apps online end up being for identity verification and can add 3-5 days of waiting for them to get around to tell you that.  Some folks call 30 seconds after apping (30-day notice) and get to the verification department right away, others end up having to wait up to a week.

Doing it in-branch just means you may be able to skip a tiny bit of waiting period IF an identity check comes back and IF they let you verify in-branch versus wait for fraud department to call you or inform you to call them back.

Re: CSR - In-branch approval?

Went into the branch to check just now. Nothing. Decided not to apply. Will just wait out the 5/24 rule I guess.

Re: CSR - In-branch approval?

Did you ask a teller behind glass or a banker at a desk?  They had NO offers, or not CSR offers?

When's your 4/24 date?  Mine is 6/2019 unless store cards truly aren't counted, then it's 3/2019 if I don't app for Amex Platinum before then.  Ugh.  Stupid US Bank Cash+ $500 useless toy card in October...threw me 3 months ahead for it.

Re: CSR - In-branch approval?

I don't think I've seen anyone pre-approved in ages for the CSR. You may see other offers, but i dont think the csr shows up anywhere, online or in branch from what ive seen.
Also, a recent ASK article detailed an internal memo that Private clients were not receiving offers.

Re: CSR - In-branch approval?

There have been recent data points here on MFF in the past month with folks who DID get a CSR offer in-branch and it DID overrule 5/24 with them.

Re: CSR - In-branch approval?

Based on my calculations, Sept 2019 is the earliest I’ll be under 5/24 assuming no other opened accounts. There’s nothing else I want right now, though.

I don’t have any store cards. I’ve pared down my card collection to about 8 or so.

ETA: I didn’t have ANY prequals.

Ugh yeah you're in the same boat I'm in.  PM me if you want my 5/24 forecast tool.

I am not ready to cut down any new accounts yet but there is definitely ZERO that interests me, other than POSSIBLY Amex Platinum but honestly CSR blows it away in my spend categories for travel and I don't want to waste 1/24 for something that won't help me put cash in my wallet.

I'd accept the CSP now and PC in a year, though, but so far no offers of any kind.

PS/edit: I doubt it matters, but are you sure you're not opted out of marketing offers?

If you have ANY Chase accounts of ANY type (credit, banking, investment) they have your profile in the system.  Walk in, sit down with personal banker, ask "Do I have any offers?" and if they say yes, ask to see them and pick CSR out of the bunch if it's there.

I haven't had offers in-branch ever, but I go in every week to ask and get free bad coffee.  My Chase banker is also a neighbor so he's kinda used to it by now and will actually wink at me when I walk in and pull me ahead of the line because he knows it only takes 30 seconds to check.

Do not call into a branch -- their offers screen asks them if you're present or on the phone.

I thought in-branch approval were for banking (deposit) customers. I remember reading somewhere that having a banking account with Chase betters your pre-approval chances becasue banking relationships gives them more data points.
