CSR - Making an online foreign transaction purchase

Question - I want to make an online purchase from a Europe based company so the transaction will be converted from Euro to Dollar.  Do I need to notify Chase?

Re: CSR - Making an online foreign transaction purchase

I'd try it without contacting them first. If they reject the transaction as suspicious, then call and stay on the phone with a CS rep while you try the transaction a second time.

*When I first got a CSP in 2015, I made a $50 online purchase and a $250 purchase at the same site the next day. The merchant's website said Chase initially approved the charge, but I'd get a "problem with your order" email hours later. Chase did not contact me. I think I tried three times before I called Chase and found out the card was frozen.

How much is the transaction?

Re: CSR - Making an online foreign transaction purchase

I have had the card for only 3 weeks.  The charge will be around $35.

No question at that value, just process the charge.

Re: CSR - Making an online foreign transaction purchase

If the foreign website uses “Verified by Visa” your charge will not go through and you will have to call Chase.

That's not true. I have many successful Verified by Visa transactions done with my CSR to prove it.

I've had the opposite happen to me.  I've tried making charges with foreign websites, usually with "Verified by Visa" indicated, and the charges would not process.  I've contacted Chase and they have always told me it was not an issue on their end, they didn't even see the charges.
