Calling in for an immediate CLI after approval?

What is everyone's take on this?

I've just gotten a few new cards finally after being in the garden since ~January. I've seen a ton of people posting about getting approved for a card and calling a CSR or Credit Solutions immediately after and trying to get a higher CL.

I was considering doing this with a few of my new cards - but I'm not really sure what the pros and cons are - and what to say when I call. What do you think? If you do this when you get a new card, what do you say? Do you usually ask for the same amount from each? Do they automatically do a HP or just review the application to see if they can give you more of a limit?

Edit: The cards I was considering calling for would be -

- Citi Double Cash
- Chase Freedom
- Marvel MasterCard
- WalMart MasterCard

Most likely :
Citi = another HP
Chase = another HP (or 2)
Synch = SP but in recent months people have reported another HP

This ^^^^.

I would only try for an immediate CLI with Citi if you really needed it, since it will be another HP, but if you do need it some people have reported that they can be generous.

I'll defer to the Chase folks on here for advice on them, but in general they are not known for being generous with CLIs, much less an immediate one (of course YMMV).

Synchrony, on the othe hand, is probably doable via Credit Solutions.  However there's the caveat that some folks have had issues with having their accounts frozen, and it's thought that at least in some cases getting immediate CLIs might have put them "on the radar".  Again, YMMV.

Citi and Chase will want another hard pull. Citi is often generous if you take the pull (YMMV of course). Chase is not known for it, typically stingy on CLI, and you should just leave it be and establish history with it first.

Synchrony I believe will do a soft pull.

However, I'd sit and make a plan first. Don't ask for increases just for the sake of it. Do the approved limits truly not fit your spend? Or are they something you can live with for now? Avoid unnecessary hard pulls.
