I have 2 Cap One cards. One is a basic (no AF) $4000 card and the other is a rewards (yes, AF) $1500 CL card. I tried to combine them a couple of months ago but they said they don't do that anymore. I don't like AFs even though I've earned numerous $50 and $100 gift cards from that card since I've had it. I'm wondering if I can do a product change? Has anyone done one or are they strictly against this?
Has anyone been able to combine limits and close one card recently? I used to read about it often on this board but I haven't seen anyone combining in a while. I'm thinking of calling back and asking a different rep.

Have tried to get them to change/convert my AF card to a no AF card and haven't had any success. I've run some searches in these forums and I found multiple other posts saying capital one won't play ball.
