Found some old papers and went thru them, found an unsolicited JC Penney Reward MC they had sent me in 2005 and I never activated. I had a JCP store card and in fact, it went into CO in 2008 when we had big problems. It was settled later.
I was very curious about it and stared at it for hours. On a lark, I called the 866 number and it is still in use for JCP Mastercard activations. I tried really hard, but I couldnt resist entering the card number when it asked. After a long pause, it said the account was closed and I should call the CSR number on the back.
The letter said it had a CL of 3250 and the card says expiration date of Feb 2007.
I'm not interested in a cold app with them so I'll just cut up the card and let it continue to die in peace.
Also found a letter from mortgage refi that said my CR score from TU was a 706. It is exactly back to that again, but 10 years later, and only after several years of tough rehab.
It was a very cheap thrill indeed.
Of course you can't activate it...

Nope.
I hope you weren't really thinking that they would activate that card.
