Bit the bullet, applied online. Chose Blue Card, probably should have gone Delta or Green Charge.
Anyhow, originally I thought is said 'Could not approve you at this time' and said for reasons why online click here and had to give them permission.
Then it said check status and said nothing yet, then I got email and said 'we're processing, click here' and clicking here gets me;
"In Progress. We will notify you once your application has been processed, or if we need additional information. If you wish to view an electronic communication of your decision details once we have made a decision"
So not sure if it just didn't 'get the news yet' like I did or the original message just meant 'we couldn't approve you immediatly' (though why they'd then give me the option to see what their reasons were is beyond me)...
Any thoughts?
I app'd on Sunday and got the 'We can't make an instant decision message'.
Then I got the 'thank you for applying' email that said..
Thank you for applying for the American Express® Preferred Rewards Green Card. |

Sorry you didn't get an instant decision. From my research, I think Blue is harder to get then the Gold Card. The Green followed by Delta are definitely the easier ones. But at least it wasn't an instant no. Give it some time and good luck.Message Edited by Miner on 10-24-2008 07:13 PM
That is the thing, I thought it was an instant 'No' i.e. 'Sorry we couldn't approve you at this time' thus the 'If you would like to see what influenced our decision online click here'. But subsequent emails and the link indicate it is in progress. Hoping against hope that I read wrong and not that their online update doesn't run in synch with their insant approvaratoromatic.
If I get declined I guess I'll wait a month and go for green or delta. I might even call and see if it has anything to do with old card and if I can 'do anything' about it...
Me too!! Why would they wait? Would it take them that long to pull the report or to for the pull to show up? I thought the pull showed up instantly?
FYI... Amex pulled EX. Applied to the Delta Gold...
Might just be the way they report.
They pulled Ex for me too, Amex Blue.
I wish I could find an Amex that pulls Eq, that is my best score and in a week or so will be spotless and in a week will be 720-750...
