No credit card required
Browse credit cards from a variety of issuers to see if there's a better card for you.
so my Cap 1 card expires in a month after three years of moderate use. Original credit limit was $500, now it's $2,000. Perfect payment history, and current FICO is somewhere around 720.
I'm wondering whether the replacement card will come with a higher credit limit? Anyone have info?
I've had replacement cards with Cap One and never rec'd a CLI with the replacements.
Cap One now offers the option to request a CLI online. You'll find it under "Services". You may have to click "More" to see the "Request Credit Line Increase" option.
This might be a dumb question... I'm still learning. Does a CLI request show up as a hard inquiry on your credit reoprt. I've had a $500 Cap One Platinum MC for 4 years and never requested a CLI.

No. Most companies can do a CLI with just a soft pull and looking at your record with them. I believe HPs start to happen when you get really high credit limits, but they may not even happen then.
In the end, no, they will not HP you. Cap1 does a SP for a CLI request, as do most companies.
