When I got bumped from a whopping 300CL to an Amex-esque 500CL, I got zero notification. It was at the 6 month mark. I was (and supposedly still am) registered in the Credit Steps program but we all know it's done at 500CL.
Just got my second Cap1 card with a 500CL and when I activated the card, the rep told me in 5 months I would get a bump. I'm assuming to 750CL and that will be done as well.
As soon as this summer rolls around, I'll be getting two prime cards and saying see ya to Cap1.
The is a credit building card and you should expect 2-3 CLI over the LIFE of the card, and a Max CL of around $1,500. Use it until you have 2 years of on time payments and a score around 700. DO NOT waist inquiries on trying to get a higher limit. I just closed my capital one that I had for 3 years and a final credit limit of 750 bucks!!! As you can see, other companies give me more.
Capital one allowed me to be where I am today!!!
Every time I call to find out what the CC caps out at; if there is a 2nd step, and if so when and for how much; I get a different answer! They are *SO* frustrating. I've spoken w/supervisors, retention, even their prime "Venture" dept. (by accident- I got trsfrd there). It doesn't matter. They each swear up and down that what they're telling me is right, and yet completely different from what the previous person told me. Grrr.
One of my Cap Ones has no AF, so I would like to keep it. But the CL is only $500. I can't get a straight answer from them to know what to expect for CLIs on this card. I, ever optimistically, do hope to see something from them.
When my CapOne card went from 750 to $2250 at the 15 month mark I got an email stating I had a new document. When I logged in I saw my limit at $2250, the document was the notice that it had gone up. A week later I got the same notice in the mail.
Yes CLI's do happen with CapOne. But there seems to be no rhyme or reason for it.
The Cap One credit steps has a start and end date. Info about the program is somewhat in a gray area. As long as you are enroled in the steps program you will be eligible for a CLI. When and how much is controlled by Cap One depending on how you handle your account. Calling them doesn't seem to do anything positive. Pay on time and don't max out the card and you should see regular increases in your CL.
They sent me an email yesterday telling me they gave me a CLI on my secured CC .... a whopping $100 This was right after my 7th statement cut!
Does anyone know how the top got changed from CLIs to "Clips" and how I can change it back? Thanks!
there's only a couple posts that show as "CLIps"...I wouldn't worry about it

I changed them for you. If you ever want to edit your own title and/or post go to your post and to the right you'll see "Options." Click on "Options" and select "Edit Message" from the drop-down menu.
Sometimes other posters will edit the title of a thread (Very disrespectful to the originator of the thread IMO) and sometimes it's just a mystery.

Marine,
Thank you! I know about the edit function, but didn't realize that's how you change the subject line, too.
