Re: Cap One .... IS There a EO Email Still?

The public EO contacts are no longer valid because they were abused by folks.  Anyone who has an EO contact now likely isn't sharing it anymore since if they're Capital One customers themselves, they don't want another avenue closed.

You've been with them a year and a half but you didn't share any data points.  What are your FICO 8 scores now versus then? Did you ever go overlimit or have a payment returned?  Every pay late even by 1 day?

You can find it via Google, to be honest, it's not worth your time. They do not do manual reviews for CLIs or new account approvals anymore. Whatever the computer decides is what you get, and that's all.

You can email and they will call you back; the phone number was shut off due to abuse. Like I said, though, they don't entertain CLI requests anymore so there's not much point in contacting them.

Re: Cap One .... IS There a EO Email Still?

I do have one late pay from back in February, the rep put in a request to have it removed so she said I actually still see it, at the time it was a family first matter a few of my immediate family members passed all back to back, so now I am out of depression and trying to clean up my neglected credit! What a chore, I have NFCU and another card I just really wanted to do something with that poor SL I have with Cap. ... Thanks

I'm sorry for your losses, that's really rough to lose family members close together.

If that's your first card with capital one and you got it with either ok or so-so FICO scores, the card could very well be "bucketed" in a lower limit and not eligibile for increase above a certain amount. What was your SL and FICO score at the time you got approved for the card?

This is why I asked.  And this is why you're stuck.  Because even if the rep "removes" it, it's still considered a MAJOR derogatory for the bank -- some folks have witnesses account stagnancy for 1-2 years after that late payment was made.  Keep in mind that just because it's not on your reports, it doesn't mean the original lender forgot about it.

I would definitely take it as a lesson that even if you're not charged fees or get fees reversed, paying late can have drastic long term effects on an account.

You are better off just applying for a new Capital One card (prequalification page) if you want to give up the inquiries and new account aging concern (both temporary) -- most people stuck with a low limit card end up getting a way higher limit apping for a new one.

Sorry in advance for the negativity however...

You should just quit and potentially close your account. I have been working with the EO for 2 months now (for the third time) and was finally approved for a manual review... and yes a real human looked at my situation and STILL denied me for a bunch of bs reasons. I am done with them, they do not care about you or any of their customers in fact. You can easily find many cases of this happening. They will not help you, do not waste your time.

I have had my account for 3 and a half years and i am still at my starting 500 limit. My credit is good and squeaky clean and my utilization is great. There is no reason to not give me another 500 dollars at minimum. The first two attempts they wanted me to play spend and utilization games with my card to try to trick the system. Really?

I am sure in the eyes of another lender you would be more than worthy, dont think that little blemishes on your report negates getting zip for 18+ months.

Move on to a better bank, discover, amex, bofa, citi, chase, really anything is better.

Re: Cap One .... IS There a EO Email Still?

Ragequitting lenders is insane to me.

Capital One gives people with horrifying credit and repeated offenders second and third chances.  Without them, many rebuilders would be forced to pay huge annual or monthly fees to predatory lenders.

What the previous poster isn't disclosing is what their FICO score was when they got in with Capital One and the $500 limit.  If you read my "ABS" article I posted to this forum, you will 100% understand WHY Capital One won't and even CAN'T raise your limit from your subprime credit days.

To ragequit a bank over nonsense like this shows that the bank themselves are excited to see you go.  Buh-bye, don't bother the EO office anymore with trite complaints.

I would never call the EO over a credit limit because I understand how credit limits are decided in the beginning.  If you want a bigger Capital One credit limit and your scores have improved significantly, apply for a new card, they'll give you a way higher limit.  Because they use ABS to fund credit limits, they aren't legally allowed to just throw credit limit increases at folks who had originally applied with poor credit.

Re: Cap One .... IS There a EO Email Still?

People need to step back, too, and realize that many of Capital One's cards are for starting out and/or rebuilding. You are never going to see huge limits on these accounts, whether you get a manual review or not. It's just not designed that way. The accounts have a certain purpose. High limits aren't really the purpose.

If you want a higher limit and your credit has improved significantly, it's much more efficient to apply for a higher tier card vs pulling teeth and begging for a higher limit on an account that isn't designed for a high limit.

Finally, even for those who have gotten a manual review in the past from the EO, the results have been pretty small. People have fought tooth and nail and ended up with tiny increases or 1-2% APR reductions. Is it really worth it? Just apply for a new account, either with Capital One or elsewhere.

It's not that Capital One doesn't care about their customers. It's that the EO isn't a magic wand to make your account into something it's not designed to be.
